It’s not good. CB’s that play with their back to the ball , drive me crazy. Kendrick’s and Durant had easy interceptions, if they turn and play the ball. Instead Kendrick’s ran right through the receiver for the PI. Durant will improve , but Kendrick’s is a big liability

I think the talent level is low and that the defensive coaching staff, yes Morris, is limiting their exposure as much as humanly possible - explaining the good aggregate numbers.

The CB can not tackle.

And Kendricks remains a QB's best friend.

If you look at the snap counts you'll notice that we're playing with 3 safeties at an abnormally high rate, which is because our CB are a liability.

After watching two weeks of football I'm beginning to realize how important coaches are. Morris is maxing out our talent level - i.e., the sum is greater than the parts.
The 3 CB thing is also cause ourLBs arent so great.

Every team misses passes every week. That way lies madness and unnecessary bean counting.

How so??? Some of those shitter WRs were way beyond the Ram corners...but no harm no foul I guess. Gives them a learning opps.

some qbs are more accurate than others and at different types of throws. clearly, deep accuracy is something purdy is not top-tier. rams didnt get lucky on those misses. the dbs arent great and neither is purdy at the deep ball. every qb has limitations. he's a dink and dunker who limits turnovers which is perfect for their yac receivers and high-powered offense.

or we can say the 9ers were lucky that tutu didn't go deep for a walk-in td that caused stafford's grounding penalty. or lucky that the rams received a couple of penalties that were flat-out wrong.

Well Tutu apparently ran the wrong route. You could see Matthew Stafford verballly get on him. Doucheebo and his other shitter friends, more than once, cooked the Ram corners. Yes they got lucky but that's football. But overall they aren't doing terrible and they got plenty of room to development.

Lucky? They were playing against a QB that is extremely accurate in the 10-25 yard range and kinda weak at throwing the ball down field. You try to take away their strength and make them beat you with their weakness. Rams had no other choice but to jump the short routes because the Niners offense is efficient and rarely in long yardage situations. The game turned on the two turnovers that led to the 10 points by the Niners.

Yeah, lucky. I certainly clenched up when I saw those deep passes and the WR wide open. I thought overall they did well enough to win but if Brock Purdy connected on at least one of them the two Ram INTs would've been a moot point.

Have you ever watched Lamar play? Guys an incredible passer. Wonder where you get the idea that he's not...

Or even Hurts or Dak (who definitely have their limitations but can sling it)?

Oh they can. But not like Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Rodgers, Herbert.

Not all of those guys are "elite", but we played almost all of them last year where this year we just have Burrow from that group. As passers I would notch those three a tier below this group.

Rams young corners have some learning to do. But they should get better with more playing time. If they make the playoffs this year that would be great. Whatever the case, the experience they gain this year should benefit them and the team next year when they plan to make the kind of moves that can make them another Superbowl contender in a year or two.

I would like to see Duke Shelly get some snaps on Kendrick's side just to see what we have there. Kendrick has had some bad moments but also he's not allowed a lot of completions or a lot of yards. I still think there's something to work with there.

Lamar's game tape and numbers are much improved this year. New OC new system and different players around him for sure. But his numbers are vastly improved.

this year = 2 games.
not a season, not a season, we're talking about... two games.

would you put money on lamar playing at that level or returning to the mean?

I'd say the defense overall has been playing better than expected. If our corner play improves and our pass rush continues to develop, the D could be pretty decent down the stretch.

People want instant gratification. This defense is a work in progress and all the pieces aren't playing yet. The Seahawk game showed what they were trying to do. With the majority of the teams, it apparently would work. But now people are complaining that it didn't work to perfection against a team considered a Super Bowl contender.

Kendrick's limitations were exposed against a higher-quality opponent. Durant's inexperience was likewise on display.

Time to roll out Witherspoon, Shelley who has experience, along with Durant who is more capable than Kendrick and is in the process of development. In other words, I think they need to mix and match their lineup to match up with the opponent. This will be learning as they play season. IMO it's still at least a 10 win team. As they gain experience, both the players and the coaches, the Rams will be a team other teams won't want to face late in the season.

Time to elevate Royce Freeman to the active roster to play as #2 RB. He's bigger and faster than Rivers. We all knew the offense would have to carry the defense in the early games. They were doing it until the turnovers.

That said, there is no doubt the fix was in because the refs continued to allow the Niner offense to line up illegally. It's so blatant it can't be anything else but rigging the game. It's why people call the Niners cheaters because they are. Even the media is silent another indicator that it's desired by the league. Notice McVay and Snead are mum as well.

So what is happening this year you won't acknowledge got it. I said he's playing qb much better than he has nothing about if he'll do it all year, I don't have a crystal ball. Simple fact is he's done it so far which you don't seem to want to accept.

Well, at the moment I'm still saying if. I'll wait a few weeks to see if I'll change it to when. :sunglasses:

Looks like we added another DB to our practice squad ... Michael Ojemudia.

A former third round pick by the Broncos in 2020. Played last year with the Bears, who claimed him off waivers.

Don't know much about him, but sounds like he's worth a look.

He looks like a clear upgrade to Kendrick. Fast and tall he had a very good rookie season in with 6 PD and 4 FF along with 55 solo tackles.

Apparently, he got injured in 2021 and again in 2022 and is why he was available. There is no question he has the physical metrics and plays well when healthy. Each of the injuries are unusual types, such as a dislocated elbow.

Give him a week or two to be coached up and I think he could play opposite Witherspoon with Shelly at SCB. Regardless he looks like good depth at the very least.
