Russell Wilson Reportedly Weighing His Options For Offseason Trade

Here we go again with Russell Wilson…

For the bulk of last year’s offseason, the internet was flooded with rumors of a Wilson trade. And while the QB didn’t ever come out and ask to be traded, his agent did provide the Seahawks with a handful of teams the superstar quarterback would be interested in playing for.

Despite all that, Russell Wilson returned to Seattle prior to the start of last season, saying and doing all the right things. But now, we’re back to square one.

After the Seahawks failed to make the postseason, Wilson is reportedly weighing what his options would be on the trade market.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport went on “The Pat McAfee Show” to speak on the current mindset of Russell Wilson.

“Russ wants to know his options. I’m not saying he’s definitely going to go, but he wants to look around and see,” Rapoport said. “If you’re Seattle, it’s the same problem they’ve had the last few years. Even if they get a great offer, who is actually going to be their quarterback and how quickly can they rebuild? Because Pete Carroll is going to be 71, and he doesn’t want it to be a full-year rebuild. I wouldn’t rule out a trade, but it has to be a no-brainer and they have to know the answer to the next question as well.”

After the season concluded, Russell Wilson maintained that he wants to be in Seattle until he retires, but also acknowledged that it isn’t entirely up to him whether or not that happens.

But there has to be something to all these rumors that he’s looking around. And it isn’t like it’s anything new. When we did this whole song and dance lat year, it was reported that Russ was getting a little fed up with how Pete Carroll and the Seahawks’ brass don’t ask his input on the roster, and I’d expect those feelings are probably still there.

It’ll still take a massive haul for any team to land Russell Wilson in a trade. But buckle up, we’re going to have another offseason with these rumors swirling around.

Maybe it's just me but I am fed up with the Prima Dona QBs who feel the organization should consult with them in regards to hiring a new GM, head coach or draft selections.

This is just media driven crap. It's funny how they open the article with a "Here we go again" attitude. Yeah, there you go again with the same speculation and recycled story you had last year. Wilson, Rodgers I hope you enjoy the game from your couch.

I think Russ would like the AFC. Let’s have a few decades of really shitty football in Seattle while they look for another lottery ticket at QB.

I think Russ is washed up. At least as an "elite" level QB.
I don’t. I don’t have any love for the guy - but if I’m a team without an answer at QB And i feel like the rest of my roster is close - I want Russ way before I want a draft pick.

Steelers, Broncos, Panthers, Titans, Eagles, Colts, Bucs - all instant contenders.

I would also be interested if I were the Lions, Vikings, Browns, Falcons, Giants, Commodes (that feels weird to type)

I dunno, I think he's lost a step on his wheels and without that dimension he's just not so unstoppable. Is he worth a 1st round pick? Sure, I get that. Team gets him on a cheap (reasonably) contract for 2 years. But the multiple premium picks/players that are discussed in props for Watson, Rodgers or the Stafford deal? No way.

Maybe. He is 33 and has some wear and tear on him.

I think the price has been set on him by the Stafford trade - Seattle won’t take much less. And teams who think they are a QB away will look at the Rams success and pay it.

I agree that Wilson doesn't have much leverage, but the Packers guaranteed Rodgers that they would trade him in order to get him back last year. If he wants to, he'll be playing somewhere else this year.

Part of me says screw him get him out of Seattle! But another part of me is like we've had his number and Petey's number for a while and wants them to stay there. But what if he stays and Petey goes then they get a bright young mind as a HC? Yeah enjoy the AFC with all that QB competition :)

The Giants should trade for him. They have a new coach. Decent team and need to reinvigorate the fan base.

I don’t know that the Seahawks would want to trade Wilson though. Pete was not good until they drafted Russell. Trading Wilson would mean a rebuild in Seattle. Does Pete want to go through that at 71?

Pete seems to love the limelight too. I can’t see him retiring. If they trade Russ and become a losing team Pete fades into the background and his legacy becomes tarnished.

At this point I want him to stay also. We know him so well and every year he gets a little slower and weaker.

I heard on the radio the other day that Seattle has near zero interest in trading him.

I believe they will keep him one more year as they feel with a healthy team they can compete. That's fine, no worries about what they are doing in the Pacific Northwest.
