I read about his about 45 minutes ago. I got hooked into reading about his life story. I always liked George. His first Championship happened when I was just a toddler. His come back happened while I was in college. He lived life, devoted to his family and his faith.

RIP Big George!

LEGEND

Side note... he has 5 sons all named George. He also named one of his 7 daughters Georgetta.

He used to joke and say he did that because it helped him not forget their names. He blamed it on Muhammad Ali punching him too many times.

George certainly is one of the GOAT names that you can be given. ;)

I didn't see this thread when I created mine on the other page, I will delete and post here what I did there.....

Remarkable life and man.
Probably my favorite athlete of all time.
A friend got to meet Big George about 3 years into his come back. He ran into him before a fight on the undercard of a bigger fight. He said he was very friendly and chatted for a bit, signed a couple of things for him and was just all jokes and smiles.
Mario: "Is the guy you're fighting tomorrow good?"
George: "Oh man, I hope not."
Foreman didn't pick up the gloves until he was 16 or 17, making his winning a Gold Medal a few years later all the more remarkable.
81 heavyweight wins is no joke.
A knockout percentage of 84% is no joke.
Everyone loves an underdog story and while most of the sports media was making fun of George for being a fraud early in his comeback he was just doing his thing. He was working hard and he a great work ethic and determination that the younger, better Foreman lacked.
He was slow but he always was. He was clumsy and threw awkward punches. But, he always was and did.
But that jab....
In my opinion one of the most, maybe the most, devastating weapon in boxing was the George Foreman jab.
Set up all the "power on loan from God" shots.
The jab was the money maker.
High school drop out, petty criminal, Gold Medal Winner, 2 X Undisputed World Heavy Weight Champion, Salesman, giant in TV commercials, entrepreneur, husband 5 times over, father 12 or 13 times over, wealthy beyond reason, best selling author, starred in a sit com, did tv and movies and recently had a life story made about him, preacher and church leader, youth pastor and a guy who gave away tens of millions of dollars to his Houston Youth Center.
Remarkable and interesting man.
Rest in power Champ.

Nicely said. And yeah…that slow looking jab that seemed to miraculously find home was a thing of beauty for real boxing enthusiasts. Absolutely THE most devastating jab I’ve ever seen. Others could pepper an opponent with the jab - Marvin Hagler comes to mind. But George’s was like a hay maker for most boxers.

I always loved Evander Holyfield ( probably my favorite boxer of all time) so it was kind of depressing watching that fight. At the same time, it was one of my favorite match ups. Two of my all time favorites matching up but someone had to lose. What a fight though. The decade and a half older George took it all the way and had Evander hurt several times. But Evander was such a warrior. I loved and hated that fight.

Rest in peace Mr Foreman.

I can relate to the mixed feelings with the Holyfield fight.
Evander said after that he was out on his feet a couple of times during the fight and that he had blood in his urine for a couple of days after from the body shots.
He said Foreman had more power than anyone he ever faced.
