Bowers could have been a real weapon in McVay's offense with Stafford.
But, we got the best available player after a bunch of teams let him slip through their hands.

I REALLY wanted Bowers on draft day but Verse is a beast. Years from now, he could easily be top 5 if not higher.

Tbh, I think I’d still have to take Bowers over Verse….but getting Verse is still a major win on draft day.

I love Bowers. But filling Edge was such a huge need for us. We'd have nothing on defense without Verse. It was crucial to get a replacement for AD, and them hitting on that pick was required.

Guys like Verse are so hard to find outside that top group of players. Bowers is great but the pass game TEs can be found more commonly in that 15-30 range where the Rams usually pick. Lions got LaPorta, after all, at 34. He is similar to Bowers.

I’d take Maye first

Makers is an odd pick. He has been criticized for giving up on plays

Rams got great value on Verse, Bowers would have been awesome, but we wouldn't have Fiske either.

Verse is the best defensive player in the draft class and already an elite pass rusher in the NFL. Total steal to get him where we did. McVay has never really used TEs well in LA. I suspect he'd be able to make Bowers a major weapon. But I am not so sure he has the type of season he is having in Vegas, if he lands in LA. A lot more pass catchers to feed in horns too. I prefer having Verse. Also a position of greater importance in terms of roster construction.

In fairness, him going to a team with an excellent (although unlikable) offense coach has surely helped him develop quickly.
I have zero doubt the Giants would have hindered him.

Caleb Williams still at #1?

Dafuq

Its debatable, numbers are very similar, 1 TD and appx 200 more yards for JD, same INT's, JD 8% better completion rate, but CW playing better lately behind an inferior OL.
JD has played an extra game too I believe

What fairness? This is the NFL. The NFL is not fair. Produce or get out. Oregon isn’t a great offensive school? Did he not put up great numbers and develop in a Pro style offense? Stahp.

All the dumb ass draft pundits were saying there would be few QB’s taken this draft and it was obvious multiple would be drafted and what do the so called draft gurus here do, parrot the media twits to try and sound smart.

It’s these guys that act like some sort of scout and parrot whatever they hear in the mainstream media so they can have something to talk about but have zero idea of football fundamentals and what’s actually important. And the little they do get is from someone from the TV broadcast they watched that night from an Andrew Whitworth unlike some dumb shit like Collinsworth.

My argument for Bowers is not an argument against Verse. This years team needs the offense to be elite and the defense to be decent.

If I’m running 11 personnel 90% of the time and I need my offense to be elite…I need an Alpha like Bowers catching and blocking on every down.

Kupp + Puka + Bowers with Stafford and a decent run game is uncoverable.

I’m a “defense first” guy but IMO the Rams were correct in attempting to move up to secure an elite TE in 2024.

Our young D is growing but it was never going to be great this year with or without Verse. The offense had to be great and it hasn’t been.
