I think Rodgers is past his prime. But I wouldn't say washed up. He can still throw the ball. The problem is too much drama in NYC (largely caused by Aaron himself) impacting performance on the field, more than his actual talent IMO. I think he is still be an above average QB talent-wise. The key would be him landing in the right situation that can handle his ego, antics, and personality. But at his age, and at his current form - which is only going to decline, by the way - who would want to? The juice, if it was ever worth the squeeze, certainly is not any more.

Steelers mincamp June 10… Inside the next 2 weeks… Rodgers signs with them?

At this point, the tin foils have to be really desperate if they sign this dude. I can’t imagine that plays well with the team as a whole.

Im far from a tin foil fan but if they sign him, I think that will be a real sad statement for that team and especially Tomlin. And I really like Tomlin as a coach.

Do they really have a better option?

I think it’s funny. I can’t stand the Steelers, after suffering their fans arrogance for most of my life here in PA. Plus, once again Arthur Smith, whose offense requires throwing over the middle of the field, will have a QB who does not like throwing over the middle of the field. Rodgers has one of the lowest rates in the league in that category.

Honestly, I think Carson Wentz would be a better option at this point. I cant believe the Steelers are letting Rodgers hold them hostage like this. Unless they have some secret, iron clad agreement that he'll be there for TC, which I doubt, I cant see how any team with any sort of dignity would allow this nonsense. I truly believe he doesnt want to go there and is hoping <cough Minnesota cough> has a change of heart and offers him a deal

Tomlin gets the Steelers to the playoffs every year with a steaming pile of shit at QB.

Now of course Howard probably isn't ready to run the show and is a bit limited in his upside. So Rodgers would be a very nice bridge option, and there is that possibility Rodgers comes in angry and all-in to finish his career on an up note. Also they may have to draft another QB which means ideally Rodgers has a couple seasons in him. Note that I don't agree that he has two seasons in him, as I think Rodgers' problem is football is no longer his priority. But if I were in Tomlin's shoes and he convinces me he is all-in I'm fine with him as that bridge role.

If they don't get it done with Rodgers, then this season will probably be a catastrophe for them. Which ironically is what they need to draft a QB high. I don't think Tomlin, like McVay, ever gets to the top of the draft pile. But maybe they get high enough to choose a good QB option.

Well, they have had a championship level defense for a few years and nothing to show for it, at least since Big Ben started to go down hill. They have not been able to solve there QB problems ever since. It makes Tomlin seem very fallible. It likely has reached a point of desperation for ownership with key defensive stars getting older.

I think it’s understandable how and why they are desperate enough to be in this position. No coach or GM can keep smelling like a rose if they go as long as the Steelers have without a competitive QB.
