Goliahs taste amazing. Haven't been legal to harvest/kill for a long ass time, but back in the day a Jew fish served up in restaurants was one of the foundation blocks that made the Keys a MUST SEE destination.
The Jew fish name was fazed out years back. Only older fucks like me remember it by that name.
They are a species of grouper. Florida has made it legal to harvest them legally on a very limited basis now through a lottery system kinda deal. But you can't keep any that are very big and the lottery winners can only keep 1 for the whole year. I sometimes don't follow fishing rules to the tee though.
I posted a few pics of some we caught here several years back. We caught them on one of the fishing trips we took Sapp on. I am pretty sure that's the time I posted pics of some we caught.
I speared one when I was like 13 that had to have been over 500 pounds. I'm lucky that I didn't get hurt bad or worse that day. The goliah was pissed but too big to be killed by my spear gun. Took me for a ride underwater like a missile.
