Saved By Ruby

Now this was a good dog movie

I'd never heard of this movie before and just stumbled across it on Netflix

turnd out , it's based on a true story as Ruby was named the Nations Search and Rescue Dog Of The Year 2018

a story that sounded way to good to be true , so , I had to look it up , and yep , it was true , even the ending , although in the movie it's made to look like only a few months had passed , were in real life , 7 years had actually passed , but still , it actually did happen

unlike the movie "Dog" , the actors and the dog were awesome , the dog in this movie , real name Bear , was actually a shelter dog as well , rescued by the films trainer at the last minute as well , awesome dog , tons of personality

the rest of the cast was very likable

maybe one of my favorite parts was the wife , most of the times in these kinds of movies , the husband brings home the stray dog , they have a young son , and a second child on the way , and the wife never wants to deal with the dog , or her husbands crazy dream

but not in this movie , maybe a tad bit reprehensive at first , but she soon becomes very supportive

there are no bad guys in this movie , no bad neighbor , no bad co-workers , no bad boss ,

9/10

definitely on my rewatch list

Men......

The two main actors are really excellent.
It is filmed beautifully.
The story makes its point in an artful and clever way, although its point is a tired old trope run through the equally tired ringer of wokeness.
The last 35 minutes....is.....well.....if you watch it....you'll see.
Overall I enjoyed it as it is thought provoking and well made.
7/10.

I just finished watching Old Henry on cable. If you like Cowboy/Old West type movies check it out. Timothy Blake Nelson who plays Henry, in my opinion, does a great job. I give it a 8/10.

Inception. (Man, am I late to the party on some of these).

It's a mindbender, I still haven't found a Christopher Nolan film I didn't like. 8/10.

I gave Sinister (2012; Ethan Hawke) a try from a recommendation by @JKBOGEN.

Great movie. Interesting plot and twist for a scary movie.

Go watch it!

I wish they would have Nolan put his spin on the Green Arrow, would be a perfect marriage.

Watched Jurassic World on Thursday. Honestly, I was expecting more character death. It was a fun movie to watch if you're into fighting dinosaurs, but as a story? There weren't any twists, weren't any consequences for actions, weren't any real deaths. It was too safe, in my opinion. I was expecting deaths, didn't get any, and that was very disappointing.

5/10.

I watched this last night.

It was worth it. Good recommendation.

I like believe-able stories and this was tee’d up and maybe could have delivered a different ending.

Thoughts here in SPOILER if you saw the movie already. Click fuzzy area below.

The kids doing the killing ended up feeling like a book ending instead a movie ending, to me. The movie director could have added the killer as character [Not the kids]… for the end of the story and feeding the sequels.

But Evans in his role was for me great to see him in something different. So based on that I'd give it an 8/10 I loved him in this movie. Gosseling is meh in everything I've seen him in really even in the Blade Runner follow up so yeah not a huge fan of him.

Spoiler Alert!

Did you catch that Mr. Boogie is a pagan deity Bughuul, the Eater of Children. According to lore, Bughuul lures the children, gets them to kill their families, and then devours their (the children's) souls over time. That was the evil dudes story. So, the kids being the killers fits the story. Did you know this and just not like the story

For what it is, it's pretty good. I wouldn't call it an action movie, but there's some good action scenes. There are definitely some things they took liberties with and you have to just agree to turn your brain off for those. They did and stuff with languages in the film that I really appreciated.

Overall a pretty good movie more reminiscent of the first Predator movie than what we've seen since.

10/10 - Indescribable, yet unforgettable. Some will love it, others will hate it. I loved it. Instant classic for me.

The Killing Fields (1984)

About the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, and the journalist Dith Pran who was trapped inside the country. Much more gritty and realistic portrayal of genocide than other films, like Hotel Rwanda. Very emotional story.

Went and saw Bullet Train the other day. As close to a 10 as I've seen in some time at least for me. Humor, action, fun, and great character build up. A movie I will definitely watch again.
