Maybe but I don't know if Smith even makes the final 53.

If he is not the primary punt returner, I don't see him as a WR-only ahead of three young, drafted players in Whittington, Mumpfield and Daniels. That leaves just one more WR spot; and if the Rams keep five TEs, which is very possible, they may not carry a 6th WR on the 53; and just use PS wide-outs on game-day, if needed.

I'll be honest.. I like Whittington.. but he's the one who goes. Daniels fills his role as a WR and he was just okay on STs.
I don't know who does punts, though. I have too much ptsd to put Smith back there on that.

But.. he has the most clearly defined and needed skillset for WR3 among that group. And he showed the production last year.. 303 yards on 18 catches.

Fact that the Rams paid & loaded/carried their PS with FOUR young WR's last season & then resigned all of them this season. Add in the five WR's retained on the roster from 2025 season, then add in the drafted lowly discarded 6th rd'er WR from Miami.....

Would I be wrong to say...... that if asked what Ram player who was injured & placed on the IR for a good part of 2025 (who was a 6th round selection) had the biggest player impact as to why the Rams did not win their 3rd SB this past February.

Again maybe ... but I just checked pro-football-reference for stats; and the 2025 numbers for Smith, Whittington and Mumpfield were pretty even.

Smith ... 24 Targets and 18 Receptions
Whittington ... 25 targets and 18 Receptions
Mumpfield ... 23 targets and 10 receptions

Both Whittington and Mumpfield had more offensive snaps in the Regular Season.

In the playoffs, Mumpfiled had the most targets and receptions; and Smith did not have a single target.

Add in that Smith (29 in September) is 3 years older than Whittington and 5 years older than Mumpfield.

This is my biggest concern too.

Whittington isn’t a #3. Sorry. He’s just not.

Mumpfield I duuno.

Daniels is a ? for sure.

I expect the Rams to nab a June cut or in season trade for WR. 13p is exciting but if we lose Puka or Adams we are WEAK at WR.

I have posted after the draft on my thoughts on the Ram current WR cadre but I voiced my opinions on that I considered the "receiver group" to include (WR/SL/HB/TE/RB) than just specifically directing them towards just what normally thought of when discussing WR's.

I agree with @CGI on the Rams listed WR's. I am NOT positive on any 2025 WR's performance on the field outside Nacua/Adams. Being a little more positive on Konata Mumpfield & big negatives on what I observed from vets Jordan Whittington & Xavier Smith when called on. I ready to move on from them ASAP.

Note: Rams did not sign any UDFA WR's. ??? However, did sign more TE's with UDFA' Rohan Jones & Dan Villari.

Should not we also consider into the conversation the five last seasons TE's( Parkinson/ Higbee/ Ferguson/ Allen/ Redman & then our 2nd round 2026 draft selection Max Klare?
