Then you were not responding to MY original post. I said the rumor (suggesting a deal with the Dolphins cove imminent) which was based in the clip from the wrestling match, was not plausible.

If the question is “could the Rams trade AD some day,” then…sure.

Dolphins gonna Dolphin and tamper again with another team's star player. They'll do anything to be like the Rams and try and give away their first round picks.

I know times have changed. Many years ago you wouldn't dream of trading your Superstar player under any circumstances. Mickey Mantle, Ernie Banks, Stan Musiel, Sandy Koufax, Roger Staubach, Merlin Olsen, Lawrence Taylor. The Rams did trade Deacon Jones though. Having said that, I don't think the Rams ever trade Aaron Donald because he's in that stratosphere. The one caveat is if he asks them to trade him to be closer to his family. But then with the jack he's already made, he doesn't need anymore, so why get traded? Retire and be with your family. It's just a shame that stories such as this start because of a photo. That's some weak assed shit but then again, this has gone on 2 pages (and probably many more) so it accomplished what it was intended to accomplish.

Trading AD only happens if he wants the trade and maybe if he’s only playing one more year. I still don’t believe the retirement rumors with AD - I think he plays like three more years.

Still, for shets & giggles purposes, why only Pitt? Lots of teams near his Pitt hometown that could make playing for them realistic under that made up scenario. Heck, let’s push the Jets if we are going to make things up - they are in win now mode once they get the lesser Aaron. Others like Cleveland, buffalo, NE, Baltimore, etc could work in this dream world and that’s only in AFC teams.
I wouldn't think it's only Pittsburgh as a possibility, it's just the one that makes the most sense since they have a young QB who is improving, a top edge threat that would pair nicely with AD, and his family could see him play all his home games.

But yeah that entire equation is all about what AD wants. He's earned that. Hope he sticks around of course but if not I'll wish him the best and move on.

I'm so tired of the bullshit that is the media around the NFL. Report not speculate.

Between AD and JJ Watt the Steelers would be paying 58 million dollars in salary. That makes no sense at all financially.

Maybe not financially, but I don't see AD accepting a trade anywhere else.

At this point, I don't know.

When the Rams traded Ramsey for a mid-#3 and a TE with one more career NFL reception than me, they got $5.6M of 2023 cap savings and took-on $19.6M of Dead-$.

According to Over-the-Cap, if Donald was traded AFTER June 1st, the Rams would get $13.5M of 2023 cap relief and take on $12.5M of Dead-$.

I'm guessing
that would also take Donald OFF the Rams' 2024 Books (as it did with Ramsey); and Donald carries a $34M cap hit to the Rams in 2024.

If the Rams can't compete, with Aaron Donald, in 2023 ... and I don't see them being good (Hope I Am Wrong) ... AND if they think Donald is just a year or two from retirement, wouldn't a post-June-trade make sense?

Like I said ... at this point ... I have no fucking idea.
Couple issues for me here.

First and most importantly we would be completely losing almost the entire team of stars minus Kupp and Stafford it is bad enough we let so many go 13 starters, 2 backups and counting.

The other issue is AD imo is that one in a million players and should be afforded the right to stay if he wants and retire a Ram unless he would like to play close to his home. In terms of that the team needs to make an aggressive deal and not get fleeced like they did with Ramsey that was unforgivable. I will say that deal has given me second thoughts on Snead if you combine that with the Goff resigning too early, Brian Quick draft pick, and the Stafford deal which was too much looking back on it. Detroit needed Stafford gone so they could start their rebuild and Goff had been a 2 time probowler and in a Superbowl.

Difference with AD is he is still among the best at his position so value would be there.

I hate this off-season almost more than the abomination that was last NFL season… not just for us, I hated almost all 256 games plus playoffs…

I’m ready to watch the draft and then check out…

All this speculation is fucking with me and I’m over it

I don't disagree with anything you posted; and I am NOT advocating that the Rams trade Donald.

Just trying to be objective, and provide numbers. I was hoping someone would correct me if I got the #'s wrong.

As far as Donald having the 'right to stay', if he just wants to play one or two more seasons, and doesn't see the Rams being successful, then playing for a stronger team, in a lower or no-tax state, or close to home may be attractive to him.

If they trade him post June 1st, some of the dead money flows into 2024, so he wouldn't be off the books in 2024. We'd have a dead money hit of 28.5 mil next year.....with 13.5 mil.cap space this year.

And have to wait until 2024 to spend the draft picks they got for him.

If that's accurate ... and I believe you ... then a trade makes far less sense for the Rams.

So a little exercise for those that want to. If we trade AD away pay for it.

How did you get it done? And sign the draft picks and add enough UDFA to fill out the 53 man roster and practice squad. I'm curious how you'd get it done.

Does this mean I have to take off my shoes.
