Why would you do this, McVay?

Yep, there are a handful of promising kickers that could be available in this draft. Joshua Karty, Harrison Mevis, Dragan Kesich, Will Reichard, Cam Little, etc.
I'm pretty sure he's thinking playoffs and not worried about the draft quite yet.

We've brought in many kickers that have failed. Some even turned it around. We've brought in many average kickers too. I kept asking the question and was criticized and some fools even thought I was backing Havirisk but I kept asking who out there was better. Well we got who McVay thought was better and ROD still isn't happy.
I am happier.

Maher was probably as shocked as anyone, his agent probably called him up and said the Rams want to resign you. He was probably like they do??? Sure I'll take some more of their money

If you look at last year Maher wasn't that bad until the wheels came off with those 4 missed PAT's. 6 of 7 from 40-49 yards. 9 of 11 from 50+ and a 60 yarder. I wonder if McVay was thinking we're not going anywhere and wanted to see if Havrisik could be a future kicker for them when they expect to be more competitive.

I was responding to different people. Sign Ryan Succop or Robbie Gould if he's willing to unretire. They don't have Maher's leg, but they're more reliable.

again, would have preferred to try someone else.

but Maher is a better option than Luke...

He could be just a little bit better or a lot better depending on how much he can get out of his own head.

Maher was really impressive with Dallas until he missed 5 straight XP's. Not sure he ever really did, or can, recover from that. But he has sound technique and a really strong leg.

Definitely take Maher over Havr. But really hope they explore the other options hard.

Why Mcvay stuck with Havr so long? Possible Reasons:

1. Mcvay didn't want to appear like some crazy man. Cutting Kickers every week.
2. Mcvay saw Havr as a good development option due to his big leg. Once Postseason reality entered the picture, K consistency became higher priority over development.
3. Mcvay trusted the evaluators (special teams coach etc.) faith in Havr over what was clear even in pregame practice.

Gould, a former wise ass whiner? Can you imagine if he missed a FG to beat the whiners? I rather leave him unemployed.

Gould is a pro. He's not going to miss a kick on purpose because he played for that team in the past.

He must be too expensive or something because he hasn't been signed. I know he talked a lot of trash when he played against the Rams.
