Well, get used to it, because I'm a thoughtful and level-headed fellow with a vaguely acceptable grasp of both logic and football!

I will say, what Warner did better than anyone was scan the field. Bulger was a damned fine QB - the decision to switch from Warner to him was correct, as shown by their respective play over the next few years as Warner righted himself physically - but Warner's ability to check from option 1 to option 5 almost instantly was ridiculous.

ehhh.
He had a different release than Warner.
He was more mobile in a way, although he did nothing with it. Warner could slide in the pocket as could Bulger. Once Bulger got shell shock he would always do that silly spin to try and get away from pressure.
A smart QB with a quick release can certainly make on O line look better than it is....I think both QBs fall into that category.
Warner was a better all around QB but Bulger was about the best I have ever seen at a couple of throws. I cant remember exactly....intermediate stuff....slant or cross, cant remember, he was a good as anyone ever at a couple of throws.

I remember Madden during a game showed the release times for the most successful QBs at that time and Bulger was first with Warner a close second. Bulger had great accuracy on intermediate throws. He was also good at the fade pass.

Well I'm not bashing Warner as I think the world of him as a Rams QB and off the field. But Warner could go through his progressions from '99-'01 because he had an excellent O line as well as an excellent blocking and receiving RB in Faulk to give him the time to do so.

Often times like a confused rookie in over his head, JG was never completely confident or sure of himself as a leader of professional men.

Goff barely showed any glimpses of his competitive fire as rookie. He wasn't mentally ready to be the leader of an NFL team like he was at CAL.


I fully expect to see this competitive fire in 2017

Bulger was interesting.
Excellent at some throws and very average at others.
I guess most QBs are like that.
He was good match for Martz' offense.
Also, he looked like he had never seen the inside of a weight room.

and also because he was remarkable at doing it.
More so, remarkable at knowing where the ball was going pre snap.....he made some pretty C- lines in Arizona look pretty good.
 
IIRC he was the QB that got to do the drill where he was not allowed to throw the ball, just drop back and wait for the DL to collapse in on him during last years TC.

Many great QBs looked like that too. Weight training is overrated for some positions IMO. Flexibility and quick recovery are too often overlooked. A QB is protected by his O line because no amount of muscle will keep him on the field.

Yeah, guys are different.
Her certainly was not negatively impacted by it. Even with injuries. He took a lot of punishment before injuries started piling up.
For throwers, it's about legs and hips in terms of strength and balance.

Your out of your skull if you think replacing Warner was the answer. I would of told you the same in 02 as well without knowing his HOF ending.

Don't do that. Don't change the parameter of debate that you set. You said 2002. For 2002 Bulger was definitely the answer. Warner couldn't hold onto the ball. Warner also couldn't evade the rush from the right side courtesy of John St. Clair. Warner wasn't worth starting for well over a 2 season period because his hand/thumb wasn't healed and he hadn't started throwing with a glove.

Another QB on the roster! Mannion better show something, his roster spot is in jeopardy.
