Falcons land C Alex Mack on five-year deal

Falcons signed C Alex Mack, formerly of the Browns, to a five-year contract.

MMQB's Peter King reports the deal is worth $9.5 million per year. Mack reportedly could have made more by staying in Cleveland, but the allure of Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan was a factor. Mack played for Shanahan in Cleveland and is a great fit in his blocking scheme. With Mack on board, the Falcons will turn their attention to the hole at right guard. They have been linked with J.R. Sweezy.

You guys are crackin me up with the "I don't want to overpay" posts. We already overpaid for Tru. We're GONNA overpay on anyone we add in FA. The Rams have, what, $45 million even after tagging Tru? They have needs and have to fill them in some combination of FA and the draft. They simply cannot draft all their needs.

Demoff will structure the hits well. IMO just relax and focus on the hole being filled man, don't sweat the cap, this ain't the Dolphins.

Overpaying for younger on the rise talent is one thing. Overpaying for getting older, injury issues is another..Just saying.

And Tru is younger on the rise talent. That's the difference to me anyway.

And thus far we've added holes, not filled any.

I know it's early but we've lost 2 starters and outside of franchising Tru I sure wish we heard more from our camp.
A lot of money. At least get our own signed.

I like Mack but not at 10 mil + a year for his age. I'd rather draft a beast of a C and let him gel with our other young guys... Plus it'll be cheaper!
