I don't understand it most of the time.
In terms of value, the OL is the least worrisome aspect of this team, even though they were the largest contribution to the stuttering offense.
If this were a Jeff Fisher team, the results of taking such a huge gamble with the offensive line would be far worse.
But there are some contradictory aspects of personnel investment (value) that don't mesh. Like paying Gurley what they did without keeping a top run blocking line intact.
Fowler wasn't a bad signing, but at the expense of Saffold, it just doesn't make sense to me when you consider the investment in other areas of the offense, but I guess it all works out in the name of balance?
But finally, to your point, the value of defensive players just does not match current performance, and that has been problematic for the win/loss column.
