MJD was talking about it pre game. If they cut him they can heavy at TE for example and get Bennett on the PS. The thinking being that Bennett would not be claimed and would make it to the PS.

I think the team believes that even in the event Bennett gets claimed, Jimmy G is out there in the event of emergency. They have five TEs and I don't think they want to cut any.

Simpson definitely has the tools. I think the tell will be whether he starts to get any first team reps when Stafford sits in practice. If he does, it means they are probably giving some consideration to have him be QB2, at least in a short term scenario. But if Bennett continues to get them all, I think it means they want to bring him along very slowly and just spend the year learning.

I worry Bennett has enough good tape that somebody might pick him up. I think it's too early to bail on him after a couple game 1 preseason series.

We aren't exactly a roster that needs to open up spots for people on the street.

Not with so many teams only keeping two QBs.
