Yep. Very nice way to start this season. A lot to be happy about and the only thing I have to add is that I must be missing something because I've seen nothing to cause me to give up on Hunter. Obviously very impressed with Connors and rooting for him, but the Rams know what they want in their RBs. I thought he looked fine, considering he hadn't dressed for a game in how long?

Felt good to see a young QB out there who obviously studied hard for this game. He was efficient through reads and got the ball distributed quickly. Looks like he's on schedule.

That late return by Xavier loosened things up. Also I couldn't believe someone didn't have a hold lol. I was waiting for it. He's our best returner.

RBs... Hunter did some good things early on but you can see that a change of pace who can threaten in the pass game, out of the backfield, is more valuable to this offense. Connors had a real nice block on a blitzer up the gut prior to his other plays that will get talked about more. But he's smooth in the pattern, has excellent hands, and good instincts in space. I think he has a role with this team this year if they make room for him. I'd go Williams > Corum > Connors back there.

Bennett missed some opportunities with poor ball placement. Felt like they pulled him too early but whatever. Simpson definitely outplayed him thereafter, though KC did have a lot of good players on the field in the first half for Bennett's early snaps. Still, I was annoyed by the fact he missed on a third and three with an open receiver to start us out with a three 'n out. I hate three 'n outs.

Watched Rickert a bit after his early stuff for a one yard loss. But by the end of the game he'd allowed way too many OL to get in his face. Gotta diagnose quicker than that.

I love Mevis. The anti-drama kicker.

Let's see Limmer looked pretty good early on. He didn't whiff on any rushers that I noticed.

Bailey (Edge) was real active. Rook, and got caught inside too much but high energy and the QB was feeling him.

Klare's automatic if that ball is near him. He almost caught that TD early in the game where the ball was poorly placed behind him and the DB was trailing in better position. Gonna be a great addition to this TE group. Also I was laughing when that DB took his time getting up after trying to hit Redman. Dude caught a few passes where a smaller TE might lose the ball or feel the hit more. TE room continues to show well.

Focused a bit on Keenan because I am worried about that backup nose role. But Keenan ain't it. Disappointed in how he bounced around instead of anchoring in, had trouble staying on his feet, and was subbed instantly after any play he was in there. Basically looked like a fat dude out there.

All I know is that based on the eyeball test, Simpson looked like a 1st rounder out there.

I was ready to razz the kid a bit, but he kept impressing and some of those throws were dimes to tough spots.

Really happy for his debut and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him start the next game and do even better.

Didn't focus on Keenan. That's not good to hear what you saw. I thought I saw Limmer get abused on one snap but havent reviewed the film to make any real statements.

Yeah he was 28/40 325 3 TDs vs the Chargers. Thats why I was so confused with how they used him today. They treated him like it was his first preseason game. I’d have rather Simpson got the start if they weren’t going to let Bennett show what he could do.

You gotta factor in McVay's modus operandi: the less they let you do in the preseason, the safer you are. I'm not sure why they played Bennett at all but it's clear that they weren't looking to see much from him.

I've gone back and watched Ty's highlights a few times now, and I'm dumbfounded at what I am watching. Has there ever been a rookie QB play that well in his first preseason game? I saw comfort in the pocket, pristine mechanics, and a QB comfortably navigating and moving through progressions.

What did we find here?

To be fair both Carson Beck and Haynes King did just a few days ago.

Not saying Ty won’t be great, but I wouldn’t use today’s game as some kind of definitive proof. He’s still got a long way to go. But the tools are certainly there.

Simpson was decisive and accurate. You can tell he has it upstairs and the character as well to accelerate his game.

How will he do one under pressure? He has the wheels so that may help really promising first start will he be a Drew Brees or more like an Alex Smith time will tell

Neither Brees or Smith had his wheels, right? His ability to move around will add an additional layer to what those two guys had.

I thought Blake Hance did a nice job at RT, after Trost went out. Thought he was more of a guard, but before being replaced by Henderson, I felt Hance had a decent game.

Austin Blaske played LT and was solid. The 3rd goal where Bennett rushed his throw is because Blaske's guy was closing in. Other then that, though he held up well at LT.

The thing about Hays was he was not this great pass rusher. BUT, he did not get pushed backwards and when the RB came any ware near him, he just grabbed him and he went down. Very solid player.
Right, he did generate some pressure though with a very wicked bull rush. Every team needs a player like him.

Prior to the game, logical thinking might have suggested Ty Simpson wasn't going to prove himself or disprove himself in his first game of NFL football. But we have to be encouraged by his performance. Hell, everybody was doing cartwheels when Carson Beck went 15 of 19 for 188 yards and a TD in the HOF game. I'm not suggesting we do the same for Simpson but he was every bit as good, if not better than Beck, and that's a helluva lot better outlook than if he had gone 10 of 20 for 88 yards and a pick or two.

As Dennis Green said, "you want to crown their ass, then crown their ass". I think we need to see a lot more to know either way.

Offensively.
Hope Trost's hammy, heals up sooner than later
Bennet wasn't disappointing nor impressive, the same for Hunter.
Wanted to see more balls go Daniel's way but liked what I saw
Klare looked very good to me, that's a quiet 7 catches if there is such a thing.
Really liked both Waters & Connors with the latter showing competence in all phases
Lastly, I really liked Simpsons ability to not screw up the simple stuff, in and out of the huddle with composure. accuracy in the pocket and on the move. really good job overall.

Can't ask for much more

I think Mcvay and Nate made it easy on Ty. Guessing the way they coached up the pass plays made it easy on the kid.

He did show the quick processing to alternate reads, and threw with confidence and accuracy.

That was from watching at the bar with a few minor distractions. Definitely let me know what you think if you rewatch it. Not sure I'm going to have time to do that.

Everything points to adding a solid OT to the mix. Trost is a rookie, Q is a jag, AJax is very good but has some health issues/one speeding ticket away from a suspension.
