We are not going to keep Coach Shula after this year. There's just no way he doesn't get hired by someone as a head coach.
Thats BS. Just because your a phenomenal positional coach doesn’t mean you will be an exceptional HC. Look at McDaniel. Dude is getting fired soon most likely. May go back to the bay and rejoin Shanny and Saleh.

BS? Shula is no retread like Spags or Fangio; he's young, he's a second-year defensive coordinator who has coaching ties (because the Shula name means as much - if not more - than the McVay name did), he commands leadership, he's already authored excellent defensive performances, etc.

You're right that just because someone is a phenomenal positional coach doesn't make them a HC...but it won't stop them from getting offers if they're good enough - which Shula clearly has been. I've said that I'm shocked he didn't get offers last year, and I'll stick to it. He will get major HC offers this year if he keeps his defense as good as they were today.

Bottomline these are over paid athletes that should endure hits by other men that aren’t bullets or IEDs. Everything is a risk there is no excuse. We sign up for this. I believe pre season is important. You can disagree but its fact.
It has literally zero to do with pay. McVay doesn't want the risk because losing important players when games don't count is an unnecessary risk when you expect to be a strong contender.

My point is I hate to lose good coaches because of this. I hate having teams take from what McVay has built.

Its a risk worth risking Dz. Play a few plays get a feel and get out. Nothing wrong with that.

It's a valid point. McVay disagrees and I'm gonna defer to our super successful HC on this especially since a good chunk of the league has copied him.

I would also like to see starters and top reserves play a little in the pre-season.

And, it's true the Rams have gotten-off to poor starts the past two seasons (2023 and 2024)

However, McVay has sat his starters for years; and, in the prior six seasons (2017-2022). the Rams combined record in their first three games was an outstanding 15-3

Didn't even notice that during the game and neither did the announcers. Completely eliminated the linebacker from the play with his eyes. Vintage Stafford!
Stafford does the no-look more often and far-better than any other QB, and the TV announcers almost always miss it ... which makes no sense to me as these guys have spotters to help make sure they DON'T miss things.
