Yes, we do. Forgot about that.Don't we have Higs for 2027 too?

I'll put it this way......IF Dan Villari makes Tyler Higbee expendable going into the 2026 season, GREAT!!! That means the Rams have at least 1 young, talented TE. Perhaps 2, if Ferguson is what's he expected to be. 3 if Klare is too. I'm about the team. If Villari doesn't displace Higbee, GREAT!!! That means we still have a solid, talented vet TE. 2 if Parkinson keeps up his performance. 3 if Allen does. Plus a couple of young TEs who could end up being a stud (Ferguson, Klare or Villari). It's a win-win for Ram fans. Am I laying down money on draft kings the former will happen? Absolutely no way.Talking about if's, but looking past all the missed time by Higbee, who is now a year older. Talk about a big IF!
I don't understand this. Is this a thing? If he can't make the roster because of the numbers at TE, he doesn't deserve to make the roster. He needs to clearly beat out those who are ahead of him.No one is saying keep a guy who shouldn't be on the roster. It's about of a guy like Villari if he has a great camp, and looks the part, and thus should make the roster, but cant because of the numbers at TE.
I think it would be more about the combination of Ferguson, Parkinson, Allen, and Klare making him expendable with Villari or Jones then given an opportunity to learn behind them and be ready to contribute in 27'. At that time Villari or Jones maybe makes Allen or Parkinson expendable, allowing them to leave in FA, and saving the Rams cap apace that can be spent elsewhere.I'll put it this way......IF Dan Villari makes Tyler Higbee expendable going into the 2026 season, GREAT!!! I'm with you on this.I would add that this is no longer one of the youngest teams in the league. They need to get younger. They will need TEs next year with the pending FA TEs on the roster. Not to mention a cap situation that may mean those FA TE's cant comeback.
They, as of now, only have 6 draft picks next year. They are likley to trade more draft capital at the trade deadline. So IF a young UDFA TE has a great camp, it would be nice to keep him so he can learn the system this year and be able to step in next year to be TE3 or TE4, without having to go get a rookie TE next year or relying on a rookie UDFA next year.
Keeping an aging, injury prone Higbee, prevents the opportunity of keeping that young, cheap player who could fill a big need in 27'.
Unlimited scenarios. Unlimited subjects. Unlimited results. Eventually, we'll know. 102 days and counting.I think it would be more about the combination of Ferguson, Parkinson, Allen, and Klare making him expendable with Villari or Jones then given an opportunity to learn behind them and be ready to contribute in 27'. Fan rationale is wild. It was towards the end of last year when fans, on this site, finally conceded that Parkinson had surpassed Higs as TE1.Lotsa "ifs" there, eh? On your last statement.....because he's a better tight end than Klare and Villari. Considerably.
Last 2 years (where Higbee missed a ton of time)
Parkinson 32 GP; 73 Rec, 702 Yds, 9 TD
Higbee 13 GP; 33 Rec, 347 Yds, 5 TD
Allen 32 GP; 30 Rec, 247 Yds, 3 TD
Ferguson 14 GP; 11 Rec, 231 Yds, 3 TD
Klare and Villari.....Zeroes.
It's clear he's nearing the end. Is that this year? Next? If you know, eliminate any angst.....let me know how Ty Simpson is going to do in 2 or 3 years.Fan rationale is wild. It was towards the end of last year when fans, on this site, finally conceded that Parkinson had surpassed Higs as TE1.
Your numbers above confirm Higbee is still very relevant. He may be TE2 this year.
Now people are talking about cutting him? Make it make sense.
Four: Harrison Mevis. The Thiccer Kicker. That's not even mentioning Jaylen McCollough and Josh Wallace as UDFA safeties who got occasional starts as second-year players. What's funny is it (UDFA starters or stars) doesn't happen all that often. We have 3 (three) UDFA starters on our roster.
Alaric
Shelton
Speights.
Many fans want those last 2 to be replaced asap, so yeah, it's funny when fans latch onto some UDFA and say he could be a starter, why keep the established vet? Makes little sense to me.
Yes, he's nearing the end, just like Stafford is. In the meantime, he's still very productive and may have #9's trust more than any other TE.It's clear he's nearing the end. Is that this year? Next? If you know, eliminate any angst.....let me know how Ty Simpson is going to do in 2 or 3 years.![]()
What I find puzzling is your reaction that Higs is surely safe. How fans guess he'll go from TE1 in Nov 2025 to off the roster in Aug 2026 is baffling. It's even more puzzling once factoring in that he just signed a 2 year extension. The Rams extensions for vets are always telling of their mindset. When was the last time in the McSnead era when they signed a vet to an extension and then cut him in that year's training camp? Off the top of my head, I'm thinking never!
Maybe Villari will beat out Klare for a roster spot?
I believe patterns are most predictive of the future. The Rams, in the McSnead era, don't extend vets and then cut them. This is just one man's opinion, but anyone who thinks that Higs won't make the cut is faaaaaaaar off base and not paying attention to the Rams' pattern. What I find puzzling is your reaction that Higs is surely safe.
If you look at the overall roster quality, and the Rams investments into that position of late, Higs looks to be in a position where he's going to be fighting for his roster spot. From there, who knows what will happen.
I don't know that Higs will be cut. But I also would not say he's safe. What I will say is he'll be hard to knock off the roster. But that's a far cry from indignance that someone thinks he might not make the cut.
Nothing would surprise me with this TE group. And that means the competition will be fierce.
This ^^^^^^^^^^^It's my firm belief that neither Higbee, nor any of the other top 4 TEs, will be fighting for a roster spot.
I'd be extremely disappointed if Ferguson hasn't elevated himself into the TE 1 or 2 discussion this year.Fan rationale is wild. It was towards the end of last year when fans, on this site, finally conceded that Parkinson had surpassed Higs as TE1.

We should all be ......I'd be extremely disappointed if Ferguson hasn't elevated himself into the TE 1 or 2 discussion this year.
Valid.I'd be extremely disappointed if Ferguson hasn't elevated himself into the TE 1 or 2 discussion this year.
Agreed the reason the Rams did not draft a WR at 13 was because of Terrance Ferguson, he will be the third option behind Nacua & Adams.I'd be extremely disappointed if Ferguson hasn't elevated himself into the TE 1 or 2 discussion this year.
