He had 3 penalties last year.

Davis Allen, the Los Angeles Rams’ tight end, had three penalties during the 2025 NFL season NFL Penalties.

These included:

  • Offensive Holding – 2 total penalties (20 yards)
  • Face Mask – 1 penalty (15 yards)
I remember that face mask call. It’s the old “offensive player stiff arms to the face mask but never gets called” play.
…this was the first time I can remember it actually being called!
It IS or SHOULD be a penalty. It just never gets called.

Commits too many penalties for my liking......
I didn't recall Allen committing many penalties. Near as I can find, he's the least penalized next to Terrance Ferguson with a much higher snap count. He had 3 penalties last year. For reference, Park had 6 in '23 with something like 20% less snaps. I'm thinking that is not the problem with Allen. It seems more that he is just kind of a JAG. I like him. But it wouldn't be a major set back to lose him IMO.

Yeah, maybe his penalties just stuck out to me for some reason. Allen is fine. Love the totality of our Tight End group.

Yeah. I know what you mean. I kept thinking Fergs was missing a lot of blocking assignments probably due to a game where I saw him look lost on a couple of plays. Then it turns out he was apparently pretty good at it. I think that happens with a lot of us on our perceptions of certain players.

Fergy blocked pretty poorly when he first got on the field for us but steadily improved game over game (in a way that I was honestly blown away by) so that his blocking was a positive by the end of the season.

Its ironic because he went to one of the few places in the NFL where he's actually further down the list of options on offense than he was last year in Ohio St
Haha, that's a great point.

I do see a lane for him as a third receiver for us though where he may not get much play in 13 personnel but have a number of snaps in 12.

His route running is electric (for a TE) and it looks like he can run every route.

With him and CJ in the fold, I don't expect the Rams to make a move at 3rd WR till we see them in OTAs or even camp if we even do it.

I can see CJ's limitations much more clearly and what his ceiling is. But Klare could end up a Kincaid/Ferguson (Jake)/LaPorta in the NFL and there's a possibility even with the phone book of responsibilities thrown at him that he could shine right away in a limited role.

This is true, but in comparison with our TE group we have a lot of dudes who probably project better as inline types than the move role, as none of them seem to have that naturally gifted ability in the pattern. Klare is definitely going to be in that move role, so I don't think any of these boys are likely to hold him down on the depth chart unless he struggles to learn the offense or just starts out slow in camp.

Also this pick makes me reevaluate my opinion that Puka is going to be featured in the slot (in the way Kupp was). It is possible McVay has decided he wants to limit the beating on Puka by not using him fully in that role, and maybe doing it more situationally.

If that is true then of our TEs you only have two contestants for that role: Ferg and Klare. And as a rook Ferg ended up looking more like an inline type than a move type. So barring a massive year two growth out of Ferg, it seems like Klare may factor in early for us if he comes in camp hot and learns the offense quickly.

Couple of very positive breakdowns. Fell in the draft because he transferred to Ohio State. Was the best player at Purdue. Ironically, he’s a better blocker now as he had to add that to his game in the scheme

Great creating seperation at the top of his routes:

In this one they had him in their top 50:

I’ve got a good feeling about this bloke.

Yeah this year's team is better off if they lose Puka for a reasonable length of time. Klare's got some skills over the middle.

I have better feeling about this guy than I did when the Rams drafted Ferguson. But what do I know? They might be our 12 personnel package—at some point.
I got Patriots 12 personnel vibes of this pick. Could Ferguson and Klare produce something similar? I don’t know but if they resign Allen at the end of the season we could be set at the positions for years at both 12 and 13 personnel

That would mean we are in the market for a no2 WR because it massively reduces our reliance on a no3

One thing these pundits seem to have missed is that Adams has already stated that he would not want to go anywhere else if he was a FA. After this year, could Adams become a cost friendly no3 in our system? Why not? His technical skills will not diminish and he could live on the intermediate zone. Would he give us a better no3 than practically any other team? He’s chasing greatness so why not continue with us?

Agree. I've stated multiple times Adams is better for us as a 3. We gotta find that other Top 2 WR, either via trade or next Draft.
