Edit: Forgot Shaun Dolac; he absolutely should be mentioned amongst them because we're mostly wanting Speights to be replaced by Dolac.
I don't like that Dolac got hurt as quickly as he did in his rook season. So personally I'm not sure I want him to replace Speights, though I think he would add some much needed range. But Speights does have one nice advantage, that being when he hits a ball carrier they stop.

Agreed on that. Like you said, Speights is a hell of a run stopper, and when he hits a running back, it doesn't matter who they are, even if they're Derrick Henry: they stop.

I just feel that with Landman re-signed for the next three years, we already have that one big run stopper at inside linebacker, and Speights is poor in coverage. Dolac is the linebacker who is best in coverage amongst our linebackers. Nothing against Speights, but I'd rather not have redundancy amongst our defense, and the coverage ability of our linebackers strikes me as a weakness as of now.

As for the injury, it was late in the season, not very quick. I don't think it's an indictment on Dolac's durability. If he gets injured again, absolutely, but as of now, I'm not concerned.

As I mentioned to you before, He got injured in the last game of the season. He got rolled up on the sidelines. Unless you know of another injury.

I believe patterns are most predictive of the future. The Rams, in the McSnead era, don't extend vets and then cut them. This is just one man's opinion, but anyone who thinks that Higs won't make the cut is faaaaaaaar off base and not paying attention to the Rams' pattern.

Started the year as TE1
Ended the year as TE2
Was the 2nd most productive TE in the playoffs (I previously said 1st but AI failed me. Parkinson was 1st.)
Extended 2 years
Lauded by the team as a vital leader and locker room presence upon resigning
One of 2 established TEs on the roster that plays the Y position (he and Parkinson)

Nah...I don't see much evidence that he's going anywhere.

It's my firm belief that neither Higbee, nor any of the other top 4 TEs, will be fighting for a roster spot.
AND............ Higs and his wife vacation with McVay and his wife. There is always that. They are Bros.
