My favorite Rams regular season game of all time. GD it was good to break the streak against them in such an emphatic way, while also supercharging the confidence of our young Rams team while utterly destroying the confidence and the aura of the 49ers, sending their season into a tailspin (they only one once more the rest of the season).

Monumental game in franchise history.

It was during and after watching this game that I began to believe in that team and it's chances to win it all.

Same here. This was a major psychological hurdle for that Rams team to get over, and they did so in spectacular fashion. By the time they met the 49ers again in that season, it felt like the Rams were well on their way while the 49ers had become bottom feeders.

That was the year that I was in a football pool where each week you had to pick who would beat their spread.

You get 15 points for your favorite team and 1 point for your least favorite team and so on.

I always picked the Rams after the second week to beat their spread as the 15 point team and any team playing the 49ers to beat their spread as the number 14 point team. I won a few weeks doing that and came in second overall when the Rams sat their players in the second half to not beat their spread.

If I recall correctly, the Rams beat their margin every game except the last game that year and the 49ers didn't beat the spread every game after that Ram game.

I should have gone to Vegas that year and just bet on those two teams each week.

That Kurt Warner guy..................... he was pretty good.
And yes, those uniforms. Going away from them was a CRIME. The ARE the reason I became a Rams fan.
Current front office, we should be in those twice a year. At least.

I had to go with the wife for a trip to Laguna Beach that weekend. I can still hear her harping at me that morning for us to go out while I was watching the first quarter. I tried to explain to her the YEARS of beatdowns we suffered from the Niners, and how special this game was turning out. But alas, like the Niners that day, I lost the argument.

The thing I remember about this game. Post Game Press Conference. Long Retired 49ers Legend Bill Walsh says to Dick Vermeil: "Youre Going ALL The Way..."

He KNEW.....

Genius that he was, he knew......

Honestly, I became a believer a bit earlier than that.

Offseason seemed unusually awesome. Martz, Timmerman, and the FAULK trade. And I was psyched for the Holt pick, knew he'd be a stud. Thank GOD they jettisoned Banks.

Trent Green was tearing it up in preseason. Only 4 incomplete passes, he went 38 of 42 before he went down. Offensive starters in preseason looked AMAZING. Really thought the Rams had something special. Then when Green went down, I thought, "aw shit, the Rams curse strikes again."

Vermeil's tearful press conference gave me hope though. The new offense was so amazing... maybe if this Warner guy was decent, we could go 8-8 for the first time in a decade? Maybe? Maybe?

The Ravens opener was AWESOME. Warner was so composed!!! Like an established vet! 3 TD passes! And we won COMFORTABLY!

Next week we went up 28-0 on the Falcons before coasting to a 35-7 win. KW as NFC player of the week with 3 TD passes AGAIN. Was this a dream?

The next week is when it all clicked in and I became a believer. 38-10 over the Bengals on the road, yet ANOTHER blowout victory. Hakim with 3 catches for 3 TD's and 78 yards. KW on the cover of SI with the "Who IS this guy?" title.

Before the Niners game I had some butterflies of course. What was it, 17 straight losses? But I felt confident we were the better team... we just had to prove it.

Anyway... what a glorious beatdown that day. So wonderful to see Ike overwhelmed with emotion.

99 Rams were the greatest sports season ever. Nothing can compare.

They should make a Hollywood movie about it! :D

A Game I will Never Forget. Was at a sports bar, because it was the only way for me to see it.
It was the very day that I started to believe in this Arena Football kid and the Rams as a team.
Sooo many years of dissappointment. I remember the exact moment everything changed.

It was when Bruuuuce caught that 3rd TD pass.

So many times I had seen the Rams up 14pts or whatever only to see the 9er's come back and win.
Not looking it up ,but wasn't it like 17 games in a row 9er's had bested us.

I know it was Bruce's first time beating them. So happy for him that day. He deserved it.
I remember that after this game the bobbleheads changed their narrative from Fluke to
I think these guys are the real deal..

Thank You for the post XXXIVwin
Perfect timing. That's why!:fistbump1:

Can we have another Tony Horne. Best special teams in rams history. All three phases = RING

The Rams odds were 200-1 to win the Superbowl in July. I almost made that bet too. I have told this story a few times.

I'll just sum up that the sportsbook was closed at 2AM and I forgot to make the bet the next morning.
