Kudos for Simpson keeping this quiet especially after the draft. So many including most Ram fans posting and communicating about that McVay does not like the pick, wipe the egg yoke off your face and own it, if you please and own it, if you don't please!

Shit I'll own it about that we wouldn't draft him but we did. Never assumed McVay didn't like the pick after the draft as I don't think he'd ever do something like that. It was simply myself that didn't like it with what was left on the board but it doesn't matter. He's a Ram and hopefully he outperforms what I expect by a country mile or Alabama mile or something like that.

Ive finally warmed to the pick a little. Here's my one reservation, how did Jalen "fucking" Milroe start for TWO years over Ty if he's supposedly so damn good? I watched a boatload of Bama games the last 3 years and Milroe was fucking awful, yet he was deemed better for 2 straight years. Like I said, this is my one problem with the pick.
Joe Burrow redshirted, backed up J.T. Barrett for two years, and then had to transfer from Ohio State because Dwayne Haskins won the starting job over him.

I love the people jumping through hoops and doing handstands to find ANYTHING to confirm their pre-draft opinions that Simpson sucks.... :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Agreed, but Haskins and Barrett both better than Milroe ever did, imho not even close.
You're right. Snead and McVay must have no idea what they're doing. Either that or temporary insanity. Unless of course they're intentionally trying to sabotage the Organization? Definitely one of the above three things, the Milroe theory clinches it.

Good post by LMU93. I completely agree with his QB3 remark at the end.

I've posted that I give it 40/60 odds that Stafford returns in 2027. Less (20/80 at best) if they win it all this year.

And beyond 2027, I say 10/90. I don't see him wanting to play at 40, and certainly not 41+.

So if they really like Simpson's tape, traits, mental makeup, etc., and they do, it's understandable to have taken him now. Apparently they wanted to move back a few spots (I read yesterday to something like 17 with DET), but there were no takers. You don't abandon your long-term plan because you couldn't add an extra 3rd round pick along the way.

Give Simpson the next 17-18 months to be ready for 2027. A full two years if it's 2028. Plenty of OTA and preseason reps this year and next.

I also, personally, would not put him in this season before game 12 or 13, regardless of what happens. If he's not ready to start week 1 then don't put him one play away from having to play. He should be QB3 for quite a while this season. It's in his and the team's best interests.

Charles Robinson reported today that last year at the end of the draft McVay had some colorful language which he won't share but basically said that with two picks in the 1st round they were gonna go get a QB this year.

Also, he said the feeling was from who he talked to was that McVay has been searching for his mismatch TE forever and it was gonna be Sadiq if it wasn't Ty.

I was only stating that I watched Milroe a lot of games, never understood why he was a starting QB at such a elite school. I also watched Simpson and for 10 games he was outstanding. It didn't make sense to me that Milroe actually looked better in practice for them to make the decision. I think this will actually come to be an all-time top 20 Rams selection, McVay obviously did his research and from what Simpson just said, they spent hours on the phone prior. Maybe Im not doing a good enough job pissing on the Seahawks backup, I mean gadget QB.

Because College Programs tend to favor these power-armed, running threats more than the pro's do. Not really a big deal. As jrry said Haskins over Burrow.

I went back and watched Simpson highlights and then Purdy highlights from his senior year.
Lots of similarities.. in size and play style.

What I think I saw.. and I'd love to hear from anyone else who's done this exercise.. Was Purdy seemed a little more sure of himself and more confident in the pocket.. which might be a product of playing many more college games. It wasn't a huge difference, but that's what I think I was watching.

Simpson seems just a tad more explosive as a runner.. and Simpson ABSOLUTELY has more gas in his arm than Purdy.

As many have pointed out.. Simpson is an outlier in the number of starts he made. That will be THE question.. can he take that next step to slow down a little more. If he can? All the throws are there.. all the mechanics are there.. and McVay will have a QB he can design an occasional run for.

I have heard a Drew Brees comparison, however, the key is to get Simpson as many reps during training camp and preseason IMO, while also, calculating what they are going to do with Bennett.
