It'll be interesting to see what type of fire is lit under him after this draft pick. He has the leg up for now because he knows the offense.
I just think A) he’s been in this situation before. He got recruited over by 5 star after 5 star at Georgia. And B) while he might not make THIS team, if he has a good enough camp, he might end up making another team.

So I just think he has every incentive in the world to have a great camp. Plus he’s desperate. His career is low key on the line.

I think there’s some kind of misunderstanding. Stafford clearly wants to play another 2 years, at minimum. The one that’s not willing to commit that far down the road is Snead, not Stafford. And you’ll realize this over the next couple months as Stafford’s agent tries to leverage more years out of the Rams.

People keep making it seem like Stafford has been year to year and slow to commit, but that’s just not true. It’s always been a money question and whether the Rams were going to pay him his worth. That was the entire hold up last summer. There was no question whether Stafford wanted to play in 2025. It was just whether the Rams were going to pay him a rate that he thought was fair.

If the Rams offered Stafford a contract that paid him like a top 5 QB thru the 2028 season, he would sign it tomorrow with zero hesitation. But Snead doesn’t want to do that.

The only way this happens is if Stafford gets the shit kicked out of him all season and he barely makes it thru injury wise.

But if he makes it thru relatively healthy and is still playing like a top 5-10 QB, there is *no shot* in hell he retires. None. Zero. Theres not a single Hall of Fame worthy QB that retired when they were still one of the best QBs in the sport. Unless you include Brady, who was 46 years old in 2022 and closer to being in the 10-15 range than top 5. But everyone else—Manning, Elway, Brees, Aikman, Young, Montana, Favre, McNair, Warner, Big Ben, Fouts, and on and on. Every single one of those guys retired because they were physically incapable of being the same player they were accustomed to being. Matthew Stafford *just* had the best season of his career. And not only that, but I think Stafford and McVay have a sense of shame about their previous title defense. And if they ever got the chance to try and repeat again, it would look much differently than 2022.
You could be right, but you are posting as if certain. How so? I’ve not seen anything to support what you are saying.

Because Stafford and his agent are the ones pushing for more years. Read the reports. The only reason he hasn’t signed something long term over the past couple years is because the Rams haven’t wanted to commit the $$$ he thinks he deserves. It’s not Stafford deciding whether he wants to keep playing each offseason, it’s Snead making him prove he’s worth it year by year.

And because there’s never been a QB of Stafford’s stature that retired when they were still playing like a top 5ish QB. Stafford himself said he wants to play as long as he’s capable.

I dunno man. Who runs an MVP off a team?

Your angle is one that implies there is a disagreement how long he can play at that level.

My angle implies Stafford has relayed his intentions.

It isn't hard but I guess you don't want to say who'd you pick? Guess it's hard to answer? It's really the main thing I asked on that last post. Don't tell me you're getting gun shy now lol

I think you've posted so many times in this thread that you've forgotten what conversations you're having with who.

He *has* a contract for next season.

But he’s going to want more $ (understandably) to play next season. He is ABSOLUTELY year-to-year at this point.. as you say.. read the reports.

Check out this McVay interview at 7:06. Stafford is saying he'll be year to year.
