I’ll be really glad if I’m wrong, but I about fell in my chair this morning when I saw who we picked. I was hoping for an OL, and when I was scrolling down and saw that several were taken right before us, I was thinking that we traded down.
Nope. 6’1” qb for a team with a 1 or maybe 2 year window.
I’m hoping McVay was all in on this pic, but I’ve read a few things that he wasn’t. If he wasn’t then he’s got a perfect exit reason after this year.

Nice projecting your opinion on to our coach that we know a lot about.

Hey, I'm just commenting on the press conference. Obviously something was wrong.
And BTW, I'm the one who originally suggested that McVay's demeanor was out of respect for Stafford.
I'm basically spit-balling and throwing out theories for discussion. What do I know?

I haven't heard anybody call Simpson a franchise QB. But maybe McVay and Snead really ARE the smartest guys in the room. We will see.
The presser McVay looked detached, however, the phone call to Simpson was better, but also does not come off that Coach was over the moon. As always I just hope they are right aa many diehard Ram fans across many channels get to know this kid and what he brings to the table each day.

I wonder if he will offer Konata Mumpfield money so Simpson can don #15. Not as big a Ferragamo, but like Ferragamo, has the looks befitting a matinee idle.

Sorry but you're absolutely wrong I linked the pressers from 2024 and have watched other years pressers McVay is this way in those pressers every time. I linked 2024 because it was his only other 1st round selection. This is fans not liking the pick and convincing themselves something is wrong. I'm not sure what is so hard to figure out about the simple fact that if McVay doesn't want this QB he's not picked. So many people are insinuating that the Rams duo running the team is dumb and not working together. It just baffles me coming from Rams fans. Media and other teams fans I get but how a Rams fans think that McVay would get a QB forced on him by Snead is just amazing to me.

I posted this in another thread, reposting it here. To me his behavior had purpose.

Listen to what he said as well as how he said it. He emphasized that "this is still Matthew's team".

He did not want to show excitement about Simpson. He didn't want to give any impression that Simpson was the new guy to take over. He has to earn it and its Matt's team until he wants to retire. That was the message sent. They saw how Rodgers & Farve reacted to having a young replacement drafted.

They want Stafford to want to work with this kid and help him. They don't want any conflicts. So don't show any excessive love for Simpson. Sure Stafford is a vet QB and grown adult, but we all can act like jealous kids at times and they don't want that to happen.

R1.13 as it played out was a tough spot for the Rams. Other than Bain and Lemon, I’m not sure I would’ve been excited about anybody at 13. I sure hope they tried to trade down to get an extra high pick, but that’s water under the bridge. Hindsight all the signs were pointing to the Rams having strong interest in Simpson. And I think once Snead sets his mind on a player, he doesn’t care about any draft value charts. McVays reaction was a little alarming to say the least. But I’m gonna wait to judge until if I see the Rams have a strategy for the rest of the draft that’s a bit more uplifting.

In the end, I don't think it would have mattered who we took. After about pick 8 it was a weak draft. It wasn't going to be an impact player anyway.

I said this earlier. We took Simpson because Snead didn't care for anyone else at that spot. I don't think Lemon is anything more than WR3. Bain would have been the only pick I would have been happy with.

It could be that McVay was not showing enthusiasm for the pick out of respect for Stafford. Stafford's a big boy and is very mentally tough, but I can imagine McVay thinking it would be disrespectful to act giddy about Stafford's replacement after a season in which he was MVP and is again expected to compete for the SB.

That makes sense, Snead is from Alabama, however, some of the players that Snead has drafted from Auburn or Alabama to this point, have not panned out.

Any chance they now move Bennett for a late rd pick swap or a bag of balls? The Cards QB situation is a mess, LaFleur could use a guy who can help the other QBs learn the system.

Then the Rams could go get Tyrod Taylor so they have a vet back up for a year, who could also help Simpson.

in the GDT, you frequently wave the white flag and say the Rams are doomed and dump on our team. But this take is beyond ridiculous.

So after watching thousands of hours of film and investing a first round pick and millions of dollars and several years of his coaching future... and you think McVay's not "bought in"?

McVay was subdued at the press conference because he wanted to be respectful about drafting Stafford's replacement. But to conclude that McVay isn't "bought in" with Simpson is just... whatever. A mind bogglingly horrible take.

Well I guess feel free to respond in kind to any of my game day comments in the future. I lament about missed opportunities, bad calls, and poor execution. I’m passionate. McVay can also be passionate, and it’s pretty easy to read. During that press conference with Les, I swear it looks like McVay is gritting his teeth. Now if you wanna say McVay looked fine, or he’s actually secretly excited but decided he cannot even smile as some kind of sign of respect for Stafford, I’d say you’re assuming just as much as me here
