Finally went through this whole thread and haven't seen anyone mention this.

I was on the road during the draft listening to the yahoo sports broadcast. It was either Nate Tice or Charlie Robinson who reported a conversation that they had with Snead LAST YEAR. Two interesting tidbits:

1) Last year Snead told them the Rams had spent a lot of time and thought on the Stafford succession plan. This has been in the works for a while.

2) They asked Snead if he would be willing to use a 1st on a future QB and was he worried about Stafford's response if they did. Snead looked him in the face without hesitation and said, "Yes. And Matthew would be ok with it." They reported that Snead suggested that Stafford would actually be supportive, not angry.

It sounds like the Rams had discussions with Stafford that this day was coming dating back to last year. It's possible that Stafford is upset that the drafting of his replacement has actually materialized, but the report of Snead's opinion on how Stafford would take it seems to be evidence against Stafford being angry.

I see nobody's calmed down yet. Some absolutely fucking unhinged takes on here, and that's coming from someone who initially hated the pick.

The strategy is clear. You can argue whether or not you think Simpson was the right guy to take a shot on, but backup QB was the most glaring need on this roster.

We have an awful lot of would-be mind readers here who sincerely believe they can accurately evaluate Sean's body language to figure out what he is thinking. I see this in all sports, and I often see so.msnybas being utterly dead wrong.

The 2026 NFL Draft isn't just about the 2026 NFL Season and most rookies don't make immediate impacts. And that's the big issue most seem to have either forgotten or haven't even noticed.

The Rams won their Super Bowl with very little help from their rookie draft class.

And in a weaker draft class, a lot of the players selected tonight wouldn't have been first round picks in many years.

Yeah, certain people refuse to accept that drafts are about the long term, not short-term solutions to immediate needs. It's why the Rams went out of their way to fill as many needs as they could before the draft.

Nobody knows what McVay is thinking.

Nobody knows where the.other 31 teams had him ranked.

Nobody knows how this will work out.

My impression is he may have some MINOR limitations from the neck down but from the neck up, he's got more talent than most. And he'll have a great teacher to give him even more

The #1 offense in the NFL can score however they want and I could care less. And what receivers available when we draft are burners?
