I'll agree to disagree with ya on this one. If the conversation had gone reasonably well, I think McVay would have thrown in a platitude or two, and at least tried to put a vaguely positive spin on it. Maybe included a joke about how Stafford "knows he isn't getting any younger", etc.
I could be wrong. But McVay's clenched jaw and basic "no comment" makes me think Stafford was unhappy with the news.
But to reiterate: I do NOT think it's a big deal, even if Stafford was pissed. Stafford is a pro, and at the end of the day he knows he's 38 and the NFL is a business.
I suspect McVay and Stafford will have a conversation and coordinate a shared message of unity moving forward. But it wouldn't surprise me if Stafford had an initial angry reaction, and McVay was being respectful of this understandable reaction.
Again, no big deal even if true. McVay and Stafford obviously have a solid relationship.
