I can name two NFL MVPs: Kurt Warner and Cam Newton.
Cam Newton had the single greatest season in the history of college football. He’s 6’5 230 and truly the definition of a generational athlete.

Kurt Warner got an additional 4-5 years of professional football experience in between college and playing for the Rams.

Anyone else you’d like to add to the list?

But didn't these same people draft Stetson Bennett a few years ago (no, not in the 1st round)?
...how did that go so sideways?

Just saying.
There's nothing we can do about it.
I want to look forward to the rest of our draft.
They drafted a guy to be a permanent backup QB in the 4th round... and yes that didn't work out.

Did... did... you think they were drafting Bennett to eventually be a starter?

Watching the press conference, McVay does not look like the usual upbeat guy we see after a draft. Hands in his pockets, letting Snead do most of the talking, giving short responses to some of the questions - I really think Snead pushed this one. We'll see how it shakes out but there were so many other players we could have taken if we were all in this season. I get how important a QB is in this league but there's nothing about Simpson that would put him over some of the veterans we could have potentially picked up.

Don't ride your bike on the highway....Hockey Player quote. about getting rocked while skating with his head down. You have to know where you are and what's going on around you. I guess the management believes in him. Zero issue with disagreeing with them, just like the TUTU pick and contract robbery TUTU got away with last year.

Feels like a stretch, especially with teams wanting to move up.

Nope. I'm good with two NFL MVPs.

Sure, experience matters for guys who are coming in and playing RIGHT AWAY. Here's the good news, Simpson gets to sit behind the reigning NFL MVP. There's no pressure for him to play right away.
Which is why people are so mad at the pick. The team is trying to win a Super Bowl and they just spent the 13th pick on someone who likely won’t see the field until 2028. It’s not like he’s an offensive tackle or linebacker or corner, who you can rotate in for reps and develop as a rookie. He’s going to be holding a clipboard.

Yeah, in the 4th round
To be a potential back up to Stafford, and he's still on the roster
So?

So they were wrong about him, correct? Could have drafted an impact player instead, correct?

Look, it is what it is. I've stated that Simpson was a pick I'd be disappointed in...and so I am.
But I'm not distraught or ranting like many others.
Basically I wanted the "high" of a fan who was looking forward to a player who could contribute this season instead of a QB in round 1.

close but not sure love was drafted in 2020 but i think rodgers won mvps after he was drafted
Both Brady and Rodgers tenures in GB and NE ended with them being mad at how their team spent first round picks in their final years.

Stafford is a pro and will put on a good face but I can promise he’s not happy about it.

They spent the 13th pick on our future after spending the 29th pick on the present. I like that McVay is planning for the post-Stafford future. It tells me that he's going to stick around and wants to keep winning. Simpson will have plenty of opportunity to develop while holding a clipboard.
