And if it's close what's the point in going with Bennett. I appreciate the dude but if he can't separate from a rook QB and then you consider that the rook will improve as the season goes and you get an additional roster spot...
The #2 QB with the Rams is going to be taking the majority of the practice reps with the 1's and 2's, if Bennett is as inaccurate in practice as he was in the game last night, there's no reason he should be anything other than a PS player. Simple route trees, KC not pressing coverage and he was late on all his throws. Even Fields looked like he could run an NFL practice

And some of you doubted this pick shame on you.

Oh No Ugh GIF

I just finished watching the all-22. I concentrated on the offense and fast forwarded through the defense.

Simpson:
He made a great save on his first series snagging a very bad snap that resulted in a punt instead of a turnover.
I saw poise, patience and touch that got better as the snaps accumulated
He feathered a few passes over defenders with excellent touch
He stayed calm in the pocket especially as the game progressed.
And he allowed routes to develop.
The throw to Daniels inside the red zone was money. The LB was in his pocket.
The TD to Conners was a Stafford move. He looked right and moved #59 that way then looked left and quickly delivered to Conners for the TD.

Klare catches everything
Simpson threw behind him on the sideline and he made a nice one handed grab.

Conners is a keeper. Love the way he runs, holds onto the ball and delivers hits instead of absorbing them.
Hunter had a good game that may have been over shadowed by Conners.
They obviously like Rivers for his experience but he should be on the PS.
Neither the #3 or #4 RB is going to get many snaps.

Daniels and Klare are good blockers.
Redman needs to make the squad too....keep 2 QBs instead of 3.

X had some great returns as did Presley.
Both had some nice catches and runs.

1 game against a base defense. Happy for him but realistic about his need to develop.
Exactly. 1 game. That's it. Realistically, a rookie NFL QB, who had limited experience in the NCAA needs time to develop. That's not debatable. The question then becomes, how much time? I think that depends on his talents (including smarts), his surrounding cast and the ability of the coaches coaching him. That's the nice thing.

He has those talents (and he displayed some yesterday). He's on a talented team (surrounding cast). And he's got possibly the best coaching in the NFL. So it's easy to get excited after his performance yesterday as long as it's tempered with realism. Happy for him? I'm fucking happy for us!!!!!! We have the reigning MVP under center with a talented, coachable, young QB learning from him while he waits in the wings and develops.

What I find interesting is he's the first rookie QB to debute in the preseason with at least 190 yards and 2 TDs since Baker Mayfield in 2018. We know what happened to Baker. He was with a shit organization, with the illustrious Hue Jackson at HC, then loser Freddie "couldn't stay out of the" Kitchens the next year. Finally Stefanski enters and Baker takes them to the postseason for the first time in 18 years. Then an off year where he was injured, after which they traded him to Carolina. And next he gets a boost from McVay and the Rams, ends up in Tampa taking them to the postseason his first two years. I'm seeing the problem wasn't Baker but the Browns and Panthers. But still Tampa seems to want to go the same route as those two.

My bet is Simpson does not go the route of Mayfield.

I'd start Simpson in the next game and Bennett in after. See if this changes anything we are seeing. Bennett did have some snaps against potential defenseive starters while Simpson really did not.

Yeah, after watching all-22 on Daniels throw was more impressed, not just by Ty but by Daniel's too to work through the backer.

Big picture… it’d be pretty great if he could go the route of Mayfield.

All kidding aside, though I was very pleased to see how our rookie played yesterday
It will be interesting to see the rest of preseason play out. Stetson me not have a future as our number two, but I hope he sticks with the organization at least another year or two on the practice squad or as a number three part of our 53 if we can afford the spot.

The route of Mayfield? You mean getting injured, traded to a 2nd team, released by them, a 5 game stint with the Rams, then on to another franchise? :explode1:I hope not.

I think it'd be pretty great if he could go the route McVay has mapped out for him. Backup Stafford for a year or two, become the #1 after that. Deliver the Rams to the promised land. But of course we have no idea what's going to happen. It was just 1 preseason game.

"Big picture"

A guy who can end up throwing for 4500 yards and 41 TDs in a season.
