As for Raheem Morris,I’ll just say I think he will be positive to any team he coaches. Even if he is back with The Rams.Mcvay will still need that pump you up guy.
The Special teams coach D’ needs to go though.Youth is needed there,or a different energy.
Yeah teams needs a spark. I'm still okay with Morris--I think his D would be fine if we had an OL that could sustain drives.

I concur on a new Special Teams Coach, we will have to see how it shakes out, but Chris Tabor (Panthers) and with the Bears previously would be an excellent hire IMHO, if Carolina lets him go because the new HC there could definitely keep him.
Tabor would be very nice but that would require the new HC who's yet to be hired to fire him. Any candidates who aren't under contract or aren't currently ST coaches so that we could promote them and we have a realistic chance of hiring?

And if we don't add a pass rusher other than AD or develop a #2 cb/sign/draft one it won't matter who our DC is.

Agreed and I did include that because Tabor would still be under contract and the fact he's a good one whoever the new HC is, might keep Tabor. But he might not, however, there will be others too if Frank Reich gets the OC gig, he will have some insight into Bubba Ventrone who has overseen some good units in Indianapolis.

Could be another good hire but again not sure we can count on them firing a good coordinator.

If the Rams are aggressive.. I think adding an edge like Ngokoue... and a mid-tier vet CB in FA is possible.. and draft another CB high.. and edge.
I think those are the two areas that, if the Rams are healthy, could benefit the team the most this season.

I know I'm a little crazy, but I would move Ramsey to Safety and Bring in two more corners... Also keep A'Shawn.

I don't think it would be that tough to make those moves with the cap space they can open.

We give up a lot of early (1st drive) scores and go into a hybrid prevent a little early when leading, beyond this the keep everything in front of you approach worked to keep us in a lot of games.
RM is nowhere near deserving of some of the noxious comments he gets around here.
Yes, I want him to be more aggressive but I also want more talent on the edge and in the secondary, an offense that can sustain drives will help too

I think the more natural progression for Jalen would be to simplify his role as a CB before sending him straight to a safety position. I do think he would likely excel as a safety though but he still has top-10 CB ability IMO

Anything is always possible. There's a minimal amount of cap space and his last contract was $13 million aav. I think a vet that's a realistic target is Rock Ya-Sin also formerly of the Raiders. I could see a 4 or 5 year deal around $5 million aav for him.

And sorry I have battled against the notion of moving Ramsey I can't say the words that come to mind with that idea we're nicer around here than that :D

I don't disagree that he's still a top 10 Corner.. for sure.

I just think if they can get a couple of decent Corners.. I think Durant is a great 3rd corner.. Ramsey could be an incredible eraser.. AND joker type player they can move around even more.

I know that the Ramsey safety idea is unpopular. I just think with the evolving nature of secondary play that he can have more impact as a joker-type.. who also can do real damage deep.

I think it makes our defense unbelievably worse and can't understand the thought process that would move our only good CB and move him to safety leaving little to nothing at CB. It just baffles me how people think Ramsey at safety and Durant, Rochell and Kendricks and TJ Carter as our only CB's. It's not a good idea to put it politely.

Just to correct you... THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL that I'd do that.

As I said... I'd sign a mid-tier CB and draft one.. and I would draft one in the second round (that part wasn't clear, my bad).

My starting CBs would be that mid-tier signing and the second rounder. I guess I'd give some thought to bringing Hill back cheap.

I'm not sure Rochell is even on the roster next year.. Kendricks may or may not be able to grow more.. Durant I see only as a 3rd corner.

Another reason not to do it, is the Rams salary structure doesn't include Ramsey type pay at Safety. Then come up with CB type pay on top of that. But really I want Ramsey to just play CB. Get back to shutting down the best receivers in the league. Those type of skills are really hard to find. His Star type skills can be found in a cheaper package. You know, a safety or Hill was good at that.

So 5 HC spots open, seems Texans is the most likely landing spot for Lovie Smith Jr. aka Raheem Morris. Good riddance.

He makes a little more than Derwin James and Minkah Fitzpatrick.

I think he's starting to lose *a little* of his coverage ability.. the sudden start/stop and lateral quickness that weren't his best traits to start with.

At safety.. his smarts.. straight-line speed.. ball instincts.. hellacious physicality.. those would all be maximized. You'd still, absolutely mix him into pure coverage.. and that's the beauty of it, imo.

Hill did a very nice job at the star role, agreed.. but Jalen finally collected a sack this year and 4 ints. I think the ints and sacks both go up.. and both of those are the type of plays that change games.

We're seeing the trend in the NFL where teams are most concerned with game-changing plays on defense and stopping teams from explosive plays and stopping touchdowns.

I think Ramsey at safety does more for those things than he does at corner at this point.

I think a sack and plays close to the line of scrimmage can happen from cheaper guys with much less athletic ability. He is an awesome player anywhere he plays, but he is a great all time player as CB, when it is his focus. When he spends all his film time studying the best receivers and anticipating their moves. He is distracted from the best thing he does and it is showing. If you want to talk about affecting the game, nothing he can do will affect the game more than shutting down a teams best receiver while the rest of the Dbacks do the rest. I think the rams need to stop reinventing the wheel and keep it simple when it comes to Ramsey. There probably would be less break downs in coverage if they just simplified one side of the field.

I'll disagree with this concept.

It minimizes the overall impact someone like Ramsey can have. Yes.. you can have someone closer to the line who does those things.. but they won't be able to do the other things Ramsey can do.. and that's the point. He can attack an offense from so many places on the field.

I'd say they'd get fewer breakdowns with players who aren't overmatched rookies and with two safeties who are just okay.

Sure.. you can take away a team's #1 WR.. but good teams will simply attack other places and know that Ramsey is accounted for. The whole point of him being in space is that he can impact a larger area of the field and it takes a QB a little longer to account for him, every snap.

Let's look at the Rams biggest rival.. the 9ers. Do we really think that sticking Ramsey on Deebo full-time is going to stop/slow that offense? I sure don't.

People on here talk a lot about Staley... sooooo much of what he accomplishes is simply by mixing up looks so well.. pre and post snap. It just takes a fraction of a second more for the QB to make decisions.. and that can lead to pressures and late passes or missed windows.

You are correct about mixing up the D and confusing the QB. I think they can get similar Stat production out of lesser talent and get the shut down talent from ramsey on the same play. That doesnt mean he cant still blitz when it looks like man to man once in a while. I dont think Ramsey playing star is as confusing as you think.

To me, Ramsey not playing shut down corner is like a Aaron Judge bunting with men on base.
