I was pleasantly surprised to hear the gameday guys, Herbie in particular, say positive things about the Rams draft thus far, especially considering not having a first rounder. The consensus from these guys seems to be is the Rams got good football players who fill needs they have. Which is certainly a positive.

Do McVay and Snead get props for not trading up to "get their guys"?
All GMs and coaches say this every year.
Snead has been a guy who moves up and down but his willingness to stay put means they like these players....or had several equally rated at their draft spots.
I do wonder about Denver taking the C one pick ahead of the Rams drafting the Alabama LB however.
That may be a case of having a few players available they liked in positions of need slotted for that pick.

From everything I've read all the so called experts like our draft so far. Obviously our coaches like our O-line a lot more than most of us do but I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing. I think all of us are gonna fall in love with steady not flashy Van Jefferson the next few years.

Posted in another thread but Charles Davis and a few others have absolutely loved the Jefferson pick and have him as their WR after the 1st round as the guy most likely to succeed. Just gush about how he's a perfect fit for McVay's offense.

If the young man from AL proves to be a worthy replacement for Fowler this draft is a gand slam.

As it is, I think we already hit a two run homer along with adding solid secondary depth.

Now, would it be possible to find me a hard hitting Hacksaw or Fletcher at ILB?

This rams FO loves football IQ. They also love senior bowl standouts. Makes sense to me....
This ^

Very high character dudes. They also swung for the fences with a pick (Lewis), and went after some serious speed, in our UDFA’s. I, truly believe, we are going to try to innovate on the defensive side, and wanted versatile players, to play in the slot, or zone.

Akers and Jefferson are studs, and Hopkins is going to have some major flash plays for us.

No doubt. They also like players that were top high school recruits ad nauseum. Akers, Lewis etc.

I get it, High IQ eliminates alot of missed assignment plays. It is also a great predictor of a player that can learn an NFL playbook and develop quickly. Senior bowl standouts give you an indication of a players potential worth verses future NFL caliber players. Top High School recruits are considered because some talented guys get in back systems or on bad teams.

We certainly do things the Ram way which is not how all other teams necessarily do it. Let's see if it pans out.

Let's not forget, Mcvay inherited Jeff Fishers homegrown talent mostly. This next phase will be all him and snead. While Mcvay has shown the ability to create a top offense, he is still largely unproven in terms of drafting and putting together his own team, and 2018 looks like a trainwreck, while 2019 is still a big question mark.

I was just going to post this!!! Bear gave the Rams props as well

I watch NFL Network but must be out of touch with nicknames .... who are Herbie & Bear? Are they on another network, or maybe sports writers?
Thanks in advance ,,,
