As the norm around here (for nearly a decade), I have always been one of the BIG worrywarts on the Rams OL. Should I have concerns that I am losing this distinction?
All my worrying is @ OG. I have zero concerns @ LT.

Can anyone deny that Snead has jammed Carberry's OL unit with numerous OT's & very few OG's OL'ers. Last season the offense went at a time without their starter Whitworth & the main reserve LT Noteboom along with the IR'd OT Tremayne Anchrum. Coach Carberry went with Edwards & Jackson with no fall-off in LT post performances.

Current Rams OT's 3rd yr Chander Brewer & 3rd yr OT Tremayne Anchrum has seen a good amount of action in past TC's / preseasons @ LT post too.

I should mention OT Bobby Evans in here too. I have been very pessimistic about Evans being designated as an OG. I have posted he will be a high probable release as preseason ends if he is again tasked to play OG.

He received many awards while starting @ Oklahoma @ OT. He was drafted as an LT in the 3rd round in 2019, in his 4th season. Evans might have finally worked on his body since we last saw him in February. Carberry should have advised him that he would be getting most of his work @ OT in this upcoming season. Evans did do a good job starting in his rookie season for Havenstein. Does anyone think that Carberry will waste time again being involved working @ OG after the awful early 2021 OG disaster failure? Evan is the most experienced OT after Havenstein/Noteboom.

The LT post-starter Noteboom will not be seen in the preseason. Look for Jackson & Evans to be given every opportunity to win the top back LT post with a large number of snaps even Brewer might see some. Then there are the other 3 OT's who are more RT types, Rookie Ram drafted AJ Arcuri, 2ns yr OT's Max Pircher & Adrian Ealy. Finally, there is the older than dirt LT Andrew Whitworth lurking with McVay, who would be surly available to fill in in an emergency. Whitworth did collect a sizeable Ram paycheck this 2022 season already.
Bonifay has gone Good Time Charlie about the OT position!

Snead might have a strong trade NFL legal tender/bartering material :hope:in Bobby Evans.

If Ol coach Carberry works Evans at the LT/RT posts in Training Camp & preseason. My thinking is Evans can still be a standout in these OT posts now in his 4th season. Snead has his team well-stocked in OT's, thus a loss of Evans will have little to no effect.

Evans might be showcased in the preseason to be utilized in a trade for a healthy RB (something Snead does not have & mentioned above in several posts) or a pass-rusher.

Getting a starting LT in the 7th round?
getting a decent backup will be an almost miracle.
If Note goes down we're pretty much screwed..

7th round? He wasn't even drafted.
Also.. miracles happen.
Jackson's weight and fitness was a bit of a roller coaster.. he wanted to lean up and be more athletic as a senior and went vegan. After the Rams picked him up.. he went back to meat and put some weight back on.
He didn't start playing football until his junior year of HS and did so in Canada.
There's a bit of a mystery about how long his arms are.. .they're listed in some places under 33 inches.. in others.. close to 34.
Other than that? He's got the physical traits to play in the league at left tackle. People here did get a little over-excited about his performance against backups at Minnesota.
I think those that suggest David Edwards would be moved over there to starter if Noteboom went down are on the right track.

Barkley is done, may as well call him Gurley 2.0
I'd rather have Devonte Booker from the Giants than Barkley. Was more effective runner, .4 YPC higher and more efficient receiver, more yards on less targets with same amount of catches
And that said, I dont want Booker....

I've been saying Hunter for a long time. I believe what I've been told that it will cost them a WR, probably Jefferson. Hunter is coming off a season-ending torn pec. It's not clear whether or not he's going to be 100% by September, but the odds are very good he would be. The Vikings have already replaced him with Za'Darius Smith.

IMO the real sticking point will be Hunter's contract demands. But if there is a team that can massage the numbers it's the Rams. If Tutu is truly on the rise and they sign OBJ long-term they will be fine giving up Jefferson.

Bruss will be given every opportunity to win the start at RG and I expect him to be the starters. All his flaws look to be technique related and strength all coachable workout issues. Shelton gives them the option at RG but IMO more importantly at LG. Everyone is glossing over Edwards but he is the clear weak link right now in the OL. After two years he's still playing too high, and he still gets bull rushed into the pocket. Edwards was a marginal starting LG last year. I expect him to be allowed to walk next year if he isn't released. They signed Shelton for two years, that's a prove-it type of contract. Everyone expects it to be at RG which it could be. But equally important is the poor play on the left side. So IMO the battles on the OL will be at both OG positions.

I will be surprised if Evans makes this roster. Don't sleep on Jack Snyder this kid has potential. He's better in pass pro than in run blocking but that is largely due to poor technique and he really needs to strengthen. This is the guy I can see taking Evan's roster spot. If he can really impress he could be in play for a starting OG spot next year when Edward leaves.

The Rams are set at OT. Their succession plan is clear. Get one more year out of Havenstein and then get a comp pick for him. Jackson looked solid last year. I think they are looking at him as the starter at RT in 2023. This year he will be their swing OT. Arcuri will be given this year to develop, i.e. correct his issues. He needs a lot of work on this technique, from his feet to his hand play. He dropped in the draft because he was correctly viewed as a 2 year project. So I think they hope he can be their swing OT in 2023.

But it’s based on reliable insider info that the Vikings need a WR so bad that they are willing to eat Hunters big $$$$ contract to trade for our WR3 Van Jefferson. Right? Right???? Hello…Is that not right???? Please tell me that’s right!!

I think we've strayed from the borders of Plausible and into the kingdom of Pipedreamia.

I know he is a FA but why trade when we can possibly sign OBJ? 3 years with a trade for a good draft pick after 2022-23. I am not sure how we might structure it but it makes sense all round and he is a brilliant player

I'd also go Okwara (spelling) or Allen.
I also would not mind a 26 yr old Tak McKinnely for peanuts as he still available he could thrive.

Also oddly enough I do believe big Whit would pull a Weddle and still keeping himself in shape in case Noteboom fails or maybe gets hurt however sitting out there still and still highly regarded is Duane Brown that's a solid pick up for someone.

Well, I'll play along.... *If* TE becomes a more pressing need, a team to look at is the NY Jets. Despite picking up studs Uzomah and Conklin in the off season, they then went ahead and drafted MY GUY Ruckert leaving them a bit heavy at TE. They also still have Trevon Wesco who has had a bit of an injury bug to start his career but when healthy can block a Mack Truck

I think every trade is the all in type, if not why bother????

Thinking about the roster and depth we have it is difficult to see a group that needs a huge boost. Rams colored glasses maybe.

The one area I could see a trade might be TE. And, not necessarily for a big name rental.

Maybe someone like Dan Arnold? Not flashy but solid and from a team we have a history of trades with.

Big Whit has been training w/ the OL all off season and already been a guest coach during OTAs... So if an OT goes down we actually have a guy ready to go!

Only question about Whit stepping right in if necessary, is that he's taking off a lot of weight. He might need more junk in the trunk to be the old Whit we remember.

agree with you on all counts, Edwards may be our ace in the hole!

No matter how you slice it, its still a step or two down from Whitworth. Noteboom and AJ looked good in limited duty. How long until teams find weaknesses to exploit. Its not like they've played 5 or more games at left tackle. There will be more tape and more reps to pick apart.

Any time you lose a guy of Whitworth caliber it is cause for concern, until proven otherwise.
