In a world where the Rams were able to add 3 former first round picks to their roster (Miller, OBJ, Michel) after August 1 last year, one must consider the possibility of more “all in” moves this season.

Here’s my target:

Saquon Barkley.

He’d probably be a rental, as he’s in the final year of his rookie deal. I’d offer next year’s 2nd round (F that) pick and Darrell Henderson. Maybe throw in a 2024 Day 3 pick too.

Who’s your target?

Time to dial up Brad Holmes & the Detroit Lions again and make a deal for Julian Okwara. They drafted Hutchinson so IMO, Okwara still can be had and he's still on a rookie contract. Offer them a 3rd and never look back.

Don’t know about Barkley. Carries a $7.2M cap hit and is a free agent in 2023. Don’t see him fitting-in with Akers. Sounds like a one-year-rental, and he’s no Von Miller.

I think it'd have to be an edge if we are trading. I like the Allen and Okwara thoughts, as I think they are both attainable. The cost for Allen might be steep though, so I'd lean Okwara. Everyone knows Hutch is going to start, so the price has to be a bit lower on Okwara. I'd be happy with either, as long as it doesn't involve a future 1st. As for Barkely, love the dude, but not sure I'd be terribly happy to offer a high pick and a player for a guy that can't stay on field when I still think Akers has a huge amount to offer this season.

You lower the picks to a 4th and a 6th, throw in Rapp and I’d take Barkley.

I know this is probably not possible due to in division but with the ownership change on the horizon, nothing at QB, I’d definitely trade for DK Metcalf.

Barkley's a good choice. Would require our RB room to disappoint once again on the injury front though. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

I don't think Metcalf is a fit for the Rams. Also I don't think they'll suffer enough injury at wideout to make that kind of move necessary. RB is more likely.

Quinn would also make sense. I don't think McVay is a fan of his though which probably matters. Quinn's not the kind of guy who will want to drop in coverage and hurt his pressure totals either, just my opinion there I don't have quotes or proof of that. Also he's old as shit and I don't trust him to not take plays off, though I suppose he would of course leave it all on the field if he were added for a playoff run with this team.

I'll go with Arden Key. He's a FA after the season, and Jax may elect to move him at the deadline or at least be open to that. He's a guy who can get pressures in a rotation.

I'm sticking with hunter. Don't know why the Vikings would give him up but I can't shake the feeling that mcvay hasn't let that option go

If it's not an edge rusher, I don't see any "All-in" move out there that I'd make.

Clowney rental for a 3rd round pick. Cleveland has him on a one year deal for $10m, but it's spread across 5 seasons (4 void years). It looks like an all-in move for 2022 that will blow up on them if/when Deshaun Watson is suspended next season.

Saquon Barkley was on my mind before the draft… now, probably not.

I think we sit tight until into the season, then add where we have a weakness or injury. Edge feels like the most likely spot.

The Miller trade worked because the Broncos picked up the $ from Miller's contract.

Impossible to predict what team may be in a place to make a similar deal this year.

Has to be more like MLB, NHL, NBA. A team out of playoffs willing to give a player and eat $$ for draft picks.

Rams won't have much $$ to include.

That said, an edge will be the target position (unless injuries force Rams in a different direction.

Still see any $$ resources available going towards OBJ.

Adding OBJ and an edge late in the season worked in 2021, and would be a great addition in order to run it back.

Getting a starting LT in the 7th round?
getting a decent backup will be an almost miracle.
If Note goes down we're pretty much screwed..

Train,
If Noteboom goes down I get the feeling that the Rams will shift David Edwards over to fill the spot.
Some on this Board feel that his best position is Tackle more than a Guard anyway.
But I certainly hope we don't have to cross this bridge at all and that 'Boom stays healthy and plays well.

agree with you on all counts, Edwards may be our ace in the hole!

Let's hope that Noteboom's body can hold up this season......

Unless Whit pulls a Weddle.
As the norm around here (for nearly a decade), I have always been one of the BIG worrywarts on the Rams OL. Should I have concerns that I am losing this distinction?
All my worrying is @ OG. I have zero concerns @ LT.

Can anyone deny that Snead has jammed Carberry's OL unit with numerous OT's & very few OG's OL'ers. Last season the offense went at a time without their starter Whitworth & the main reserve LT Noteboom along with the IR'd OT Tremayne Anchrum. Coach Carberry went with Edwards & Jackson with no fall-off in LT post performances.

Current Rams OT's 3rd yr Chander Brewer & 3rd yr OT Tremayne Anchrum has seen a good amount of action in past TC's / preseasons @ LT post too.

I should mention OT Bobby Evans in here too. I have been very pessimistic about Evans being designated as an OG. I have posted he will be a high probable release as preseason ends if he is again tasked to play OG.

He received many awards while starting @ Oklahoma @ OT. He was drafted as an LT in the 3rd round in 2019, in his 4th season. Evans might have finally worked on his body since we last saw him in February. Carberry should have advised him that he would be getting most of his work @ OT in this upcoming season. Evans did do a good job starting in his rookie season for Havenstein.

Does anyone :bueller:think that Carberry will squander his & the Rams team's precious time again working Evans @ OG after the appalling/ horrid preseason 2021 OG outcome? Evans is the most experienced OT after Havenstein/Noteboom.

The LT post-starter Noteboom will not be seen in the preseason. Look for Jackson & Evans to be given every opportunity to win the top back LT post with a large number of snaps even Brewer might see some. Then there are the other 3 OT's who are more RT types, Rookie Ram drafted AJ Arcuri, 2nd yr OT's Max Pircher & Adrian Ealy. Finally, there is the older-than-dirt LT Andrew Whitworth lurking with HC, who might be available to fill in in an emergency. Worth noting Whitworth is still collecting a sizeable Ram paycheck this 2022/2023 seasons.
