Um, yeah... your logic is flawed. Simply comparing them to the Rams does not respond to my point.
The Bengals were 30th in sacks allowed and 31st in sack % allowed last year during the regular season. Thus, by those objective measures, they were in the bottom 2 or 3 teams in pass protection. To get to the Top 10, they'd have to improve to a point where they jump over at least 20 teams in the rankings.
Have they jumped over the Rams? Who knows? The Rams have 2 new starters. The Bengals have 3 new starters. How will they perform? How will they gel? Anyone's guess.
But the suggestion that the Bengals, by adding three guys - none of whom has ever made a Pro Bowl - will suddenly jump over not only the Rams, but 19 other teams....
I'm sticking with "crazy" on that one.
Nah.
The individuals they added rated significantly better than the players manning the same positions on the Rams & Collins rates slightly higher than Havenstein.
The Rams lost significant talent, though I have complete faith in their replacements.
Also.. Rams Oline in 2016 was one of the worst ranked pass blocking units in the NFL.. was in the top 10 easily in 2017 with only 2 additions.. one of whom was a reclamation project.
Cappa, Karras & Collins are all major upgrades for the Bengals.. and their LT has more of a track record at the position than the Rams current LT.
Will they BE top 10?? Who knows?? Lol.
These lists are subjective and guesswork.
But we’ve seen on our own favorite team how key additions to an Oline lift the existing talent.
