I like Perkins limitations and potential more than Wolfords.

Both lack the arm strength to run our offense like Stafford in the event that they have to start some games.
If either were used, the game plan would change to capitalize on their skills.

Neither have all the tools you hope to see but Perkins steady growth and faster processing and release this season is noticeable while Wolford feels like he is what he is...

JW will keep his #2 gig and Perkins will get plucked off waivers... but I would rather hold onto the latter if I'm being honest.
I’ve kind of come around to this as well. Just more of a wild card with Perkins, which, since both would be more or less a disaster if needed for any stretch, at least adds a little unknown.

BUT.

I guess anything is possible, but people really need to stop worrying about “losing” either of them. neither is a starting caliber player and both are fringe backup caliber players. What the rams need is a Flacco type, if you ask me (fair enough, nobody did). Hopefully next year. Maybe Garrapollo when he finally realizes his starting days are over.

If I'm Daniel Jones or Sam Darnold... after this season when they are inevitably cast away... I would call the Rams and sign for the minimum.
Learn for two years behind Stafford and give yourself a real chance to be a successful NFL QB.

Now.. neither have shown the ability to process the way an NFL QB needs to.. but maybe, maybe there's a chance that they've just been crushed by their surroundings. Both will still be very young and have prototype physical tools.

Sam Darnold was totally messed up by the Jets and needs a therapist imho

Calais is gone
McCutcheon made the team
Wolford has no competition for the #2 job, Perkins is just pre-season fodder
Wolford also sucks, and Rams are doomed if he plays any significant time
Interesting to see who plays next game, chances are if you play in the 3rd game you probably arent making the team

When it comes to Wolford all we can do is hope playing with the starters will be better than having to run for your life with backup turnstiles, er, linemen protecting him. And really pray Stafford doesn't go down. Has he ever led a touchdown drive? Field goals won't cut it most times.

McCutcheon still showing he belongs. We might have found a diamond in the rough with this kid. Although that last play he shoulda tried to get out of bounds instead of turning up field. That is something that can be taught. Imagine being out there with the starters and Stafford throwing to him. If Tutu can't cut it McCutcheon needs to be considered for the WR3 or 4.

I will add that Harris looks bigger to me. He definitely looks the part and had a few nice catches last night. He also did a great job on at least a couple of blocks that I saw. He destroyed a dude off LDE and also was out leading on the Regas TD. If he is legit, then we truly have a spoil of riches at WR.

I don't know dieter, Perkins makes plays plus he seems to energize the players around him. I still give the edge to Wolford, but I am starting to think Perkins is more than fodder.

Let me add if the Rams cut Perkins, he gets claimed quick, if they cut Wolford, I'm not so sure he gets claimed.

BTW I liked Trey Ragas, he showed up well I would keep him on the practice squad. As to the Offensive LIne, I hope Bruss is okay, but he needs more work in pass protection. Jackson & Anchrum are the 6th & 7th off the bench Evans can't get cut fast enough not sure how the rest breaks out. Obviously Bruss makes the team, but maybe the Rams carry only 8 OL because the others like Arcuri, Brewer & Kolone won't be claimed IMHO and could be added to the practice squad.

No, Blanton is No 2 TE. He isn't playing.
Not sure on that, they sent him out there when Hopkins got hurt. You might be right, either way, I'm good with both. Blanton might be a better blocker, but Hopkins is the better receiver IMHO.

I'm with Dieter, neither backup QB is anything special especially in arm talent. Perkins is a better/smarter runner that's about the only advantage I can see.

Can't judge Wolford with the OL he played with tonight. Sheesh.
A strawman argument could be made that Perkins would be able to escape better, but come on, when our real OL is in place, it will be different. Hell, if we're basing our QB abilities based on their ability to escape when the floodgates are open, we aren't going anywhere anyway (much less Stafford would be 3rd string). I feel badly for Wolford as I am sure he would have liked to get some good work in, but had less than 2.5 on the majority of his attempts.
Wolford's passes look way sharper. He has a way better arm. Wolford is still #2.

Fair enough I trust your & Dieter's assessment. The arm talent is lacking, but Perkins just seems to make plays, either way Stafford needs to stay healthy plus the Rams need to look at drafting somebody next season.

That's what I thought in what I saw. The play that really bothered me by Perkins is when he reset his feet and through a duck into the dirt about 4 yards short on a a 10 yard route.

That play the ball was not firmly in his hand, that why it went into the ground.

Don't go too crazy backing me :D I'm wrong more than I'm right haha

As with most backup QB's in the NFL you're not going to win a lot with them unless the rest of the team around them is extremely good.
