according to the 2nd article in rambill's post, you won't need NFL network. cbs will have the thursday night games this year.
CBS only has the Thursday games from Week 2 through Week 8. Week 9 and on, the Thursday games go back to NFL Network.

I love the Thursday night games! I just don't like for us to play in them. It takes away from my Sunday and I don't like our players to have to play on such a short week. Also, as others have mentioned it seems to give the home team a larger than normal advantage. For years I have protested the fact that dallas gets a Thursday home game every year. IMO, that provides them an unfair competitive advantage for 2 consecutive weeks. They (obviously) get to play at home on the short week while their opponent has to travel and the following week have an extended rest that their opponents do not. I love the Thanksgiving games but strongly believe the teams should rotate rather than providing an uneven playing field for two.
*Disclaimer: my absolute hate for the team from dallas my be affecting my opinion on this one.

No, I agree. Detroit too. There's no reason that it can't be rotated - well, the network might not like it, but given the competition among networks to carry the NFL that can be overcome. Ironically the other Thursday games devalue the Thanksgiving games a bit - since Thursday is no longer unusual for games.

I think the NFL is risking overexposure with this, and I've also never been a fan of the quality of the games.

If the NFL wants to give the games more quality and show concern about player safety, they should work the schedule so that the two teams playing ALWAYS have their bye week before their Thursday night game. That way they have plenty of time off before, plenty of time off after. If they have to extend the season to 18 weeks with two byes per team, then so be it.

I love everything about the Thursday night games except having to listen to Mayock.

More football GOOD.

Like others have said, it's great as a fan, more football. But when my team has to play on Sunday and then play again on a Thursday, that can be kind of worrisome.

Also, it has been a pain in the ass to watch games if you don't have NFL Network. This year will be better with CBS showing them, but it's still annoying that you have to have NFL Network to watch the games. Yes I know you can find bootleg streams but that's besides the point.

Yet another good reason to not like Thursday night games.........

Belichick likes Thursday games, would gladly take more than one

Count Patriots coach Bill Belichick as a firm supporter of Thursday Night Football.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft said this week that Belichick “likes the Thursday night games and would be happy to have more than one in a season.”

The NFL tries to schedule each team on Thursday once but not give any team two Thursday games unless one of those Thursdays is Thanksgiving or the traditional Week One opener hosted by the Super Bowl champion. The idea behind giving each team only one Thursday game is that it makes the schedule more fair, so no team gets an abundance of short weeks to prepare for Thursday games, or long weeks to prepare for Sunday games following Thursday games.

Belichick, however, may feel that he does a better job preparing his team than other coaches during shorter or longer weeks, which means Thursday night games are advantageous to the Patriots. Unfortunately for Belichick, the Patriots only get one Thursday game this year.

of course Belechik likes them, he usually gets a bye week before and then the Monday night game after

Love it and since when is rgme a spokesman for the league. I thought some of his own team mates did not like him? Now he is representing the players??

He's just expressing his own personal opinion. In fact, the Players Union came out with a statement that they were fine with Thursday night games.

Multiple votes means you can pick more than one option, but not vote multiple times.

In this poll, if you pick both you cancel yourself out.

Maybe I need another drink! :sneaky:

What if I don't vote at all? What does that do to the math?
