IMO there is no competition. Sloman will be released either this afternoon or tomorrow. The Rams obviously have already worked out Forbath. Sloman will likely be signed to the PS for the remainder of the season. If he's smart he will spend the offseason working at John Carney's kicking academy fixing his mechanics. The Rams probably will bring in one or two other kickers next year to compete and IMO that will be Sloman's final chance to make the team.

It should never have come to this, but I'm happy to see him off the active roster.

Competition is not a bad thing. Even if it is mediocre competition lol. Man, the other two kickers must have really been unimpressive to the coaches to not even bring one of them back in. Guess they saw what the needed to see with them. Sloman might stick around on PS to maybe fix some of his bad mechanics with an eye on next year while they throw in a vet kicker who they can at least feel comfortable with under 40 yards and xps.

I think it's pretty obvious that McVay and Snead read ROD, no other way to explain this.

Joking aside, I think this is it for Sloman. From what I read, we signed Forbath off of a practice squad so he needs to be added to our active roster. Expecting Sloman's release to follow if it hasn't already happened (just not reported to media).

"Sam? Yeah can you meet coach in his office? Bring your tablet with you."

Just the fact that the problem has been acknowledged and a competition at least is in place makes me happy. I don’t hate slowman, but I am happy he is being challenged
He’s being challenged by a bad kicker who in a year with league wide kicking issues went 6 weeks without a job. This guy inspires less confidence than Sloman as he’s been just as bad but for longer. Sloman needs to pick it up and maybe this does it, but don’t expect Forbath to suddenly be good.
