Hold on a second
Would somebody remind me, what is a "1st round pick" again?
It’s jalen Ramsey and Matt Stafford for us, others it’s kind of like the craps table in Vegas.Hold on a second

Philly tried to get to #2, but failed and then couldn't get to #3 so they bailed. They will still get a good player at #12 but it won't be a QB. Next year they could have as many as three 1st rounders and could get a QB.
Snisher taught us that high picks don't mean squat, unless you pick the right people. We all get enamored this time of year by potential. This guy's gonna be so great and that team will be a dynasty with so may high picks! It rarely works that way and so I am glad to not be the belle of draft day ball, anymore.
I'll take Ramsey and Stafford and be very fricken happy about it....
Which is all well and good but it has to be done right both ways. You say you'll take Ramsey and Stafford? Yeah the #1 and #5 pick overall in each of their drafts. Problem is those teams couldn't build around these great players. Good teams can build winners regardless of how they do it.Snisher taught us that high picks don't mean squat, unless you pick the right people. We all get enamored this time of year by potential. And I still honestly like Tua and think he could be a good quarterback. They could absolutely be a perennial Super Bowl contender for years to come.
Teams have the top picks normally are the ones who have NOT done the right things and are in the top mostly because they sucked and are now run by a news regime or the old regime has a last chance before they are all fired (only to start the process over again). As for pointing out the #1 and #5 picks in their respective drafts, they were still the diamonds in the rough that first year Although top draft picks have a better chance of being impact players than those picked in the lower rounds, the odds still suck that teams get it right. As vets and proven players, our odds go up dramatically by giving up the first round picks for proven commodities....Which is all well and good but it has to be done right both ways. Philly & Detroit both will be competing to position themselves to get their QB next year with multiple #1's in hand.Philly tried to get to #2, but failed and then couldn't get to #3 so they bailed. That's only half the formula though you're missing the point. You have to have drafted well for a few years to then trade away your 1st round picks for proven vets to fill out the roster and put you over the top. The Rams didn't start this by trading all their 1st rounders for vets they did that after building a base of drafting to augment the base. Miami has already started drafting well and has a very good D. They're now set up if they want to follow what some GM's are doing and add talent while trading extra 1st rounders for proven vets and using some for talent.Teams have the top picks normally are the ones who have NOT done the right things and are in the top mostly because they sucked and are now run by a news regime or the old regime has a last chance before they are all fired (only to start the process over again).
