I'm still of the belief the Rams are trying to set up a trade scenario with Noteboom sometime prior to the October deadline.
Since he restructured, I’m thinking the cap implications could make a 2023 trade difficult.

I think they are going with Noteboom at RG and again, we have to see how it plays out because if Jackson is able to be an excellent LT and Boom plays solid at RG, the Rams still could keep both or look at other options next season after they release Noteboom.

I like Jackson at LT and playing Noteboom at RG gives the Rams their best 5 OL on the field and now we can see if Boom can hold up for an entire year. Now they are going to have to have someone in case both get hurt, but hopefully that does not happen.

Warren McClendon proved he could play LT, if called upon and I expect A.J. Arcuri to be on the practice squad as a reserve too.

We don't even know if Noteboom is better at RG than Anchrum. I guess the way folks think here that doesn't even matter. He's getting paid so he's gotta play. Screw the continuity that they've already developed. Screw Anchrum and the hard work he's already put in. So what he's played well.
We already know how well Noteboom plays LG, what makes anyone think he can play RG any better? Yea, let's pull the guy that's playing well, disrupt the continuity they are developing and put in the guy they overpaid.

Makes perfect sense to me.

I mean, I'm suspicious of Boom at RG but it's not like Anchrum started a lot of games for us at G and dominated. He started one and got hurt right away! (Am I wrong on that?)

I don't love switching this so late in camp but also, I think we need to give em both some snaps against the Raiders where they're hitting and then make a quick decision so the guy we pick can get all those snaps against the Broncos.

And when Jourdan says that Anchrum has been "battling" at RG, I don't read his been running away with spot.

Just give me the best 5 at the best spots. If Nacua can play RG and he's the best, let's do it.

I listened to Jordan too, and she calls inserting Noteboom at RG this late as"messy", she also mentions the faster and different footwork Noteboom will have to master in such a short time.
Go ahead and let him get snaps vs the Raiders, only way we're gonna find out who's better.
My money's on Anchrum.

Yeah, and how that might be tough on a reconstructed hammy a year out from surgery. The whole podcast is a must listen.

Again, I don't have high hopes for the move but I suspect they need to make this experiment move fast so that they're starting 5 can get those snaps together during one of the joint practices.

It's messy, reminds me of when Rams tried Hav at RG and that RG (name escapes me) at RT when McVay first came in during training camp and then once they hit joint practices reversed them right away!

I thought it was an Achilles ... not a hamstring.

Believe it was Jamon Brown.

It's really going to be more about a trade partners needs imo. We'll need to eat some dead money, but we currently have it, and every week closer to the trade deadline the Rams liability gets a little less. jmo.

Not a surprise though is it. They've been trying to jam Noteboom down our throats for years now.

I've gotten to the point where I just hope this time they'll be right because this shit's been going on through three different OL Coaches. Which insinuates the guy can play a bit and we've seen it in small chunks. But he seems to me to wilt when he gets gameplanned basically. He's one of those guys who isn't quite good enough, close but no cigar.

If he does settle in at RG the impact should be good pass pro at least. So maybe this means they're worried about Anchrum's pass sets. But on the flip side Anchrum didn't play very long in game one did he. Seemed like he was out of there quickly. Which insinuates that he is still seen as the starter.

History tells us Boom will be forced in there, he will end up struggling, and someone else will need to do the job. So if I'm Anchrum at this point I'm just gonna keep working and waiting for my chance and it will certainly come because Boom can never hold onto a job nor stay healthy long enough for it to matter anyway.

My concern is that the cost will be more than just Dead-$.

When they released Leonard Floyd, the Rams were hit with $19M of Dead-$ but did get $3M of cap savings.
Trading Ramsey resulted in $19.6M of Dead-$ but there was $5.6M of cap savings.

There are moves (releases and trades) where there is not only NO cap savings but there's a Negative Impact to the Salary Cap. Where moving-on from the player actually reduces cap space.

Add in that According to PPF, Anchrum played 63% of the snaps at RG in Chargers game and got a 73.5 rating, best among Rams OL.

Sometimes this team just outsmarts itself. I was agahst when they paid Noteboom. I didn't think then he deserved it and given that he can't beat out an UDFA at his best position, LT, I sure as hell don't think he deserves it now, and definatly not a shot at another position at the expense of a player who has proven he can play.

Drives me nuts every year the Rams go through this with the OL going back all the way to Linehan and Spags. Jamon Brown , Smith, Robinson, Barnes, Demby, Evans. Why it takes them so long to realize they keep running guys out there that can't play, or are just not up to what they expect. ROD members way ahead in the realization they fucked up.

Here we go again.

Are you sure that is NOT Post-June 2024?

I was looking at the Pre-June numbers, thinking it was June 2024

What would Over-the-Cap, which constantly up-dates, have pre and post June 2023 information?

I'm not sure. Just wondering.

Noteboom sat out practice against the Raiders with a "thing"... so maybe this competition doesn't even take off.

It says specifically 2023. Notebooms 2024 CAP hit grows considerably higher, to the point where trading him is likely far more difficult.
If the compensation is right, I might try to move him ASAP.
jmo.
