Really sad. Only forty-one and passed today. I always respected the man as a player and a person, would've killed for a center like him blocking for S-Jax. Really sucks to hear that his search for a kidney was for naught.

May he rest in peace and paradise.

Proof Positive
Strange that they say they couldn't find a family kidney donor.
We have two kidneys so if you donate one, it means you just have to pee a little more often.

It is a shame that he couldn't find a kidney among family members. I don't understand how some with kidney failure like me can do dialysis and live, but for others like Mangold can't? RIP, Sir.

From what I can tell (and don't quote me on it; I'm not a doctor of any kind), it was a genetic defect in his kidneys. I wonder if his family tree has the same kind of defects which would make getting a family kidney donation all but impossible. I'm not even sure how many of his family members are alive and well.

Either way, it's really saddening. He's leaving behind his wife and four kids. That just utterly breaks my heart.
