I have never attended an NFL game. I have a chance to see the Rams at the Giants. The price is $130.00 per ticket. Does that sound accurate?

Buy from a scalper, I've done it for years and it's very easy.
Talk to a few before the game and just hang out and relax and have a drink or do the tailgate thing with others.
When the crowds start streaming in and kick off is approaching they dump the tickets. I never paid even face value, often about half and always sat in premium seats.
Yes, as aT an season ticket holder it sounds fair. Go on vivid seats , stub hub or seat geek and look up that game and comparable seats as a barometer
Les is right about getting from scalper at last minute. I used to print a seating chart out so they couldn't lie to me about the seat's location. Also. A lot of counterfits out there so it's good to know what the tickets are supposed to look like. But when I travel out of town very far to go to a game, I buy tickets in advance. I don't want to pay for a hotel room, gas, airline tickets, take time off from work etc and not get into the game with a good ticket. Then it's best to follow rdklgliders advice. I like Seatgeek because you can search for tickets by price with all fees included. Good luck and have fun!!!! GO RAMS!!!!

Thanks guys. Good info. Giants stadium is about a three hour drive. New York is full of hardcore fans, unlike some other NFL cities. I think it would be tough to get a deal from a scalper. Hopefully our Rams have a good record by Nov. 5th. I would love my son's first LA game to be competitive.
Maybe I should stack the deck and wait for them to play in Buffalo again. My nephew got second row fifty yard line seats for 50$, the last time they were there. But that's a five hour drive.
With gas and food the Giants game will run me about $400

I always printed a seating chart when I flew to STL for a game, which I did many times. You're correct it's essential.
My feeling was that I wasn't flying all that way, paying for a hotel and air and then paying top dollar for premium seats. Because I won't sit in shit seats for a game even if the tickets are free. It's just no damn fun. I can't stand paying top dollar for tickets LOL. Fuck that.
I always talked to a few scalpers at least and I told them I wanted between the 45 yard lines and what section. That way if they had it I'd go back to them when they were ready to drop the price to get a sale. And if they didn't have them I would use that to grind the price down. I don't think I ever sat outside of the 40's.
I used to go to the Herdfest every year without tickets. And I even had a few guys take me up on my offer to get their seats in town from a scalper and it always worked out. I used to have fun ribbing the guys who had season tickets that I was sitting in better seats for less money than their seats haha. Those were great times.
The first time it'll be nerve racking because you will be afraid, but trust me find a guy with good tickets and wait. He will want to get anything he can get when there is hardly anyone on the street. They would rather sell a pair of $150 each tickets for $150 for both than throw those tickets in the garbage.
As a side note/pro tip.........always be polite. First because they are people and second a lot of assholes think acting like an asshole to a scalper gets them a better price. So they will appreciate being treated like a human. I often asked them what their names was and introduced myself.
Trust me @Elmgrovegnome those guys will be ready to sell when the streets get empty, I don't care where they are from and how many die hard fans are in NY. Remember the Rams Monday night game in Cleveland many years back? I sat in killer seats for $50 bucks each. And you will not find many cities with die hard fans like Browns fans.

Do NOT buy from a scalper. Giants games sell out. Furthermore parking is a nightmare, you'll have to park in a remote lot (unless your tickets have preferred parking) and take a shuttle over.
Especially driving 3 hours, you'll want tickets on lockdown.

I would throw TickPick on that list. I've found some tickets for $20-30 less than comparable ones on StubHub using TickPick.
Personally buying from a scalper is a risky venture in this era. EX: If I print a copy of my tickets that copy becomes the active ticket. If I then print another copy that becomes the ticket and the previous printing is deleted and void even though it looks Exactly the same. Another EX: I sell my ticket through NFL Game Exchange ( The NFL'S Ticket reseller)

Read The NFL Bag Policy. Know what you can and can not bring in and what size bag you can use to bring those Items in. A freezer sized Baggy is appx size. It is a great alternative to buying a bag.

Considering it is your first game, purchase your tix before hand. You will have a hard enough time just getting into the Stadium, let let alone trying to find a Scalper.
$130 is a fair price considering the market.

10-30% of tickets for big events are going to brokers who then kill it online for people willing to pay a high premium for a sold out event, the rest get sold on the street at the venue.
I paid near or at half price for GSOT era seats.
I paid well below face value going back to a trip to Detroit to see the Jordan led Bulls play the Bad Boy Pistons way back in the day.

Plus the NYC marathon is that weeeknd which will also drive up demand
