According to NFL rules; you have to release a player that is put on injured reserve with the same injury in the same year.

Other NFL teams are saying that Aaron Rodgers should be released because Green Bay violated that rule.

Source; Yahoo.

Merry Christmas Green Bay fans.

That would be so fantastic.
The NFL would enforce the rules with a back up. Not in this case I'm sure since the NFL is run like a traffic cop deciding who gets a speeding ticket.

Never going to happen.
The way the NFL arbitrarily handles their own "rules"?

Of course not.

Really funny though.
Evidently Green Bay doesn't understand the rulebook and nobody in the NFL office warned them before they put him on IR.
They probably will have to take him off of IR though.

The best part, he would have to clear waivers. Think the Browns would claim him?

Didn't he just have a second surgery on it? There ya go.

Green Bay can just claim it's a new injury.

Why did they even put him back on IR? They could have just deactivated him for the game, it's not like that extra player was going to make a difference. BTW, they need a back up to Rogers as Brett Hundley proved what he was.

Still, you know the entire Wisconsin area men just simultaneously had their nut sack shrink up.

Yeah, they're out of the playoff race so it's not like they need to have a special teamer or whatever to come off of the practice squad for the playoff run.

Brett Hundley proved what he was.
Yeah, he looks pretty bad.

He may develop out somewhere but in the old, NFL, (Not For Long), it is probably not going to be at Green Bay.

Do you remember when some touted him as the first pick in the draft?

The Browns would have first shot if he was released, so my guess would be - yes.

I didn't like Hundley coming out.
But I'm still waiting for Fales to prove me right.

Fales?
Would that be a "Freudian slip"? :D

And if you mean Foles I'm not even worried about him.

The only guy that can make him not look like an NFL starter was Jeff Fisher.

David Fales was a QB from San Jose State whom I liked a lot when he came out.
I wanted the Rams to draft him as developmental guy, mid tomlate round draft pick. He ended up going in the 6th round, don't remember to whom.
He's is a back up in Miami now.

Gotcha.

He could claim another injury...

I think more like, McCarthy showed what HE's about.....thought I saw multiple drops in clutch situations....that effected the game...

Brett wasn't very accurate...but seemed good enough to make that game close...whatever...scheme matters...drops hurt rookies...and McCarthy looks clueless to me...one Super Bowl with the best QB since Dan Marino???? Doesn't make sense.

And they would of course then trade him as soon as possible, as not being appropriate for their future plans. You know, he's old and expensive.

What do you think Green Bay would give up for his rights?
