It’s impossible to have a QB’s arm hit in the backwards direction and have the ball end up 10 yds downfield without it being a forward pass.

I can see if the hit comes from behind, there is a judgement call, but when it happens like that, physics wins every time.

Joke of a league...

I don’t get it either... it’s dumb asf

* the theory of physics

Maybe common sense should be a prerequisite for the job.

NFL should look at this game there were three huge plays that were PI in endzone, Goffs fumble and Pittsburgh non fumble that should be looked at. All had a huge outcome

I have always said that the default call should be incomplete pass if the ball went forward. Unless the ball is slapped by the defender from behind it has to be a forward pass.

Give the refs full time status next CBA deal
What really needs to happen is simplify rules. They are way to vague. On the Goff "fumble" or "forward pass" I hear that one thing is whether he had control What does that mean. Just like the Reynolds non-PI call was was he significantly impeded. Seems the word significant is up to interpretation.

For instance, with the Goff fumble the rule should be if the ball went forward and the defense did not touch the ball to make it go forward its a forward pass.

Or possibly optometrist 20/20 visual tests.
Yeah, but after blowing the call, it gets sent to NY Riverton who blows it, then commented on by Blandino in booth, who blows it.

Not one Physics 101 class, nor common sense, amongst ANY of these yahoos???

Its not about the physics which is motion... What we saw, what they saw etc. Who is the blind one in all this?...

bottom line is Rams offense looked pathetic today. straight up F result where D+ wins this game rather easily.

I get there’s stuff in the rule but for God’s sake...use your eyes. The ball can’t travel forward if the arm isn’t.

Not sure I follow.

Ball thrown 10 yards downfield can only happen by MOTION of QB’s arm (when pressure comes the front).

Simple physics.

But they're saying he lost control of the ball before his arm moving forward pushed the ball downfield.

To me it didn't look that way and we didn't get a chance to see any relpays because the clowns in the booth green lighted the call before they could even show replays on the screen.

.

I idea how the hell that stood. Everyone in the stadium thought it would be reversed. Rudolph did it about 3 times and no fumble called.

Didn't anybody else hear the announcer mention "the empty hand test"? I'm not sure if it was supposed to be a joke, but he sounded serious. He was using it to justify the fumble call. I guess whoever invented the test doesn't realize that both fumbles and passes will leave the QB's hand empty.

This is not PHYSICally possible. He has to have control in order to propel it forward. Even if he loses control before it leaves his hand, it is incomplete.

Unless he threw it up in the air and swatted it like a tennis serve, no way to do this. Otherwise it is worst case a shuffle pass that we all know is incomplete even if RB doesn’t catch it.
