Garrett had a stretch of 4 games last year where he had 13 sacks, more than the 12 sacks Verse has had his entire career in 34 games.

Saying that Verse is close to being on Garrett's level is not grounded in reality.
I'm talking about first 2 years of his career..... again you miss the point, but not surprising at this point. I've already said multiple times that Verse is not at Garrett's tier but still has a chance to get there because he's barely 2 years in. I'll rephrase it for you..... Verse's trajectory in his first 2 years is close to what Garrett's 1st 2 years in the NFL were.... honestly not even sure why I gotta spell this out when I posted their 1st 2 years as a fair comparison to how their careers started.

Let's see how many sacks Verse gets with his team trailing 90% of the time. I love Verse, but Garrett racked up sacks with his team rarely being in a position where the opponent is desperately passing on every play.
Just like the other guy, ya don't get the point. Verse has a "chance" to there if he cleans up his short comings as his first 2 years compare pretty good to Garrett's first 2 years. That's all I've talked about the whole time. Never said he's Garrett or that he's guaranteed to be there. Even said on other posts that Verse was traded because Garrett is the man already whereas Verse is on his way to getting there if he keeps improving. The urge to want to be right sometimes clouds the judgement on these responses :laugh4:

I'll rephrase it for you..... Verse's trajectory in in first 2 years is close to what Garrett's 1st 2 years in the NFL were....
Garrett first 2 years, 27 games, 20.5 sacks. .76 sacks per game, or 13 for 17 games
Verse first 2 years, 34 games, 12 sacks. .35 sacks per game, or 6 for 17 games
Hardly close to the same trajectory

Sorry but your statement to me is weird 2 years into Verse's career. Saying never is premature when all he's done is win DPOY and gone all pro twice. The makeup is there but there is zero guarantee of whether or not he'll reach Garrett's level or not. Here's their 1st 2 years in the NFL in comparison, crazy how close they are minus the sacks. Those numbers would be much closer if Verse finished some of those missed sacks we have all seen. He's a young kid, acting like he doesn't have a chance to get better is crazy talk.

Jared Verse was DROY not DPOY.

We prob wouldn't be considering trading for Garrett if Verse had won DPOY.

As close as any young edge can be if you ask me. If and again IF Verse cleans up those missed sacks, those numbers are much much closer. Too many selling Verse short 2 years into his career when all is due dead was rank amongst the top pass rushers and pressures. I'll end by saying, yes I know Garrett is way better than Verse right now and that is what truly matters in why this deal was made.

Take that a step further. First 34 games

Verse, 12 sacks
Garrett, 30.5 sacks

2 sacks games in first 34

Garrett 7
Verse 1

That's not taking anything away from Verse, just pointing out how Garrett took off from day 1. On a team that was 9-24-1 in those 34 games, while Verse played on a team that was 22-12. I feel confident Garrett did not have the number of chances Verse had to rack up numbers. Verse is actually an excellent player, which should indicate what type of player Garrett actually happens to be.

Earlier, someone compared Kobie Turner to Aaron Donald. I'd say Verse and Garrett have about the same gap.
As of right now, yes. Acting like a young player has no chance to get much better is what I question. All I said was Verse has a chance and some people wanna act like I said he'll actually get there.

I think the bigger issue is that Verse did not progress after his first year. He was great in the playoffs in 2024... 2 sacks against the Eagles and a TD return against the Vikings, and we all thought he was gonna be a stud but didn't seem to get better after that. Maybe I'm missing something?

I think people are mistaken, he actually improved from year 1 to year 2. Keep in mind he was double-teamed even more and still improved his sack numbers. Part of his growth is going to be learning how to deal and beat those double teams.

It's amazing you guys are spending so much time arguing about a Cleveland Browns player

You all do you its just funny to me.
I actually think it's funny because I'm literally just talking about Verse's potential. Rams obviously traded potential for the sure thing HOF'er which is a no-brainer. I honestly think both teams did well in this trade scenario. Unfortunately it's still Cleveland so I feel bad for him there lol
