It was posted the Rams had over $25 million of cap space MG hit this season is $23,874,000 verses Jared Verse's $4,127,549
Garrett's contract is much better than this cap number. Remember, the trading team takes the hit on the prorated signing bonus. Per OTC, that's approx $15 mil this year.

His Rams 2026 salary should be $8.34 mil.

Like others have said. As good as V8 is…. and he’s pretty dang good, he’s not even close to what Myles is. Verse is a one trick pony, power. Myles has it all. I personally love that my Rams are always striving for a ring. Many years in the mid 2000s we were slop garbage bottom feeders. It hasn’t been that for a decade now. In Les and McVay I trust without hesitation (as always). Best GM/HC combo in the league for a hot minute.

Like @Coliseum Ram said elsewhere, now the Ty Simpson move makes all the more sense. They knew they werent going to have assets next year to draft a QB
Or they made that pick because they really liked the kid and now that freed up those assets to make sn all on mine. Snead eluded to that after the draft, that they have options now with moving future picks.

I'm not so sure about this. Garrett is a HOFer, but he's also 30 years old. My concern is how much he has left in the tank. Hate trading an ascending player like Verse. But I get it. Verse isn't Garrett. Hopefully, Myles still has four or five great years left.
This is exactly how I felt when we traded Goff away. I think it is a very similar trade. Garrett is going to put this team over the top. Our D needed this. SB baby!!

Of course they love the kid, not needing QB next year freed up additional assets to get Garrett

Reactions: Coliseum Ram
Garrett is a 2 x dpoy and 5 x all pro. Had 23 sacks. A record. He’s not a great player. He’s the best edge in the NFL. Been watching nfl for 35 plus years. Verse can have a fantastic career but he’s not developing into that. His pass rush moves are one dimensional. He also was better as a rookie than second year.

Like saying a promising DT will be Aaron Donald because he’s younger.
I get what youre saying, its just a difference of how we are viewing each player. Myles had a great year last season. Set a record. In fact he almost doubled his average in sacks for his entire career. How does a 9 yr player do that? Well a good majority of his sacks came within his conference which delt with Burrow and Lamar playing injured and a 43 yr old qb. He also had 5 against NE who everyone was saying all season their OL was dogshit. Im in no way undermining Garrett's achievements, bc theres a reason 23 sacks is a record. But the jump he made from the previous season to last has to have an explanation due to how extreme the jump was. So I dont expect that to be the new norm for Myle's going forward. Just like I dont think Verse's sophomore season is going to predict his 3rd season. He has too little of a body of work to really work with.

I do agree with you on the comparisons of play style between the two players. And I would honestly rather have Garrett's style of play than Verse. And I will correct myself when saying that Verse "may be just as good". I didnt mean elite, but in talks of being one of the top DE's in the game in a few years.

Ill also put it out there that Garrett rubbed me the wrong way when he was talking shit about leaving Cleveland, no matter how much they offered. Well he was full of shit and took the money. So I also have a little bias. Lol

That is a pretty steep price. Yeah, they're better at the position with Garrett. This year. But Garrett is 30 compared to Verse at 25. How many more premium years does he have? A first next year. A second and third the following year. I know they've been pretty good with the day 3 picks.

I'm a little apprehensive about it though. What if Verse reaches his full potential by the time he's 28 and becomes a premier pass rusher? While Garrett is slowing down and possibly just a situational pass rusher at 33?

I'm gonna enjoy it this year. But there is pressure for Superbowl or bust. If they win it then it was worth it. They gave up a lot for Stafford and it was worth it. Hopefully this is worth it.
