The best defensive player EVER. No one man made a bigger impact on his team. And we, Ram fans, got to enjoy it from a front row seat. I think he taught the young guys from 2023.....Kobie. BY. etc....what is needed to achieve. So his impact goes on despite his retirement.

I first really noticed AD on one play early on in St Louis. I think it was against SF. He busted through the line so fast he nearly took the hand off from the QB cleanly - he nearly beat the RB to the ball.

I miss seeing Kyler Murray cowering as 99 hunted him down.

I would add Verse ended up getting a taste of who AD was/is.
I know it was all in fun and respectful (as it should be), but I don’t think V8 was quite ready for happened at that workout.

I know I have stated sentiments like this before, but it deserves to be repeated:
AD99 has devalued (in my eyes) the Edge rusher because those guys get some free stats from time to time, but I don’t recall Donald EVER running into he backfield untouched because someone blew an assignment or somebody other than an OL was supposed to block him and it ended disastrous.
No, he dealt with 300lb+ guys play in and play out his whole career. He never got a “freebie”.

He got one freebie to the QB where he would have gotten an easy sack because no one blocked him that I can recall.

However, it was when the Rams were playing 5-10 yards off on a third and less than 5 yards play against SF and Donald got a complete free pass to Crapola and he had to get the ball off to a receiver within 1 sec or he would get sack.

And because the Rams linebackers were playing so far off on that play, Crapola got a first down pass completed to a guy going over the middle where not one Ram was within 5 yards of the receiver.

The only "freebies" he got were those he created himself ... by swiftly blowing through two blockers before either guy had gotten out of his blocking stance yet. :fire1:

I think AD said that at times due to the rigors of the season, his playing weight was around 260 at times and he still manhandled doubles teams from 300+ pound men.

I believe he said it was 247 when he was playing his best. I could have the numbers messed up. But 247, 260…either is still ridiculous when you think about it.

I remember seeing one our olineman called for holding last year by having his
arm around defenders neck trying to keep defender from advancing.

I can remember being so ticked at that call.
I mean I watched olinemen to that to AD for years and I don't
remember it being called once.

It happen so often to AD I actually started thinking it was a legal move.
The NFL official's robbed AD of so many sacks and TFL's it's not even funny.

Mike Waufle and Jeff Fisher. I give Fisher a ton of shit and for good reason because his offense was similar to Root Canal in every, shape, way and form. However, I do believe because of Fisher the Rams drafted Aaron Donald and for that, I will always give him credit.

If Fisher wasn't so fucking stubborn, he could have been known as a great coach. But no - he had to hire the WORST OC IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME. Gurley didn't call it a "middle school offense" for nothing.
