I am glad we didn't trade away more draft capital for a quick fix earlier in the year. Say McVay quits, Baker leaves and Stafford retires, pretty fucked up situation.
Ahhhyup. I would probably just take a few years off of football myself if that were the case.... Kidding not kidding.

Look, I for one appreciate everything McVay has done for us, but if he retires (burn out or not), it's a bad look. It's going to basically be he left when the going got tough. I think he should come back for 1-2 years minimum and stop being a puss about it if any of this being loosely reported is true. The guy signed an extension and I find it pretty weak to just bail so shortly after. I get he wants to start a family but are you telling me he can't if he coached 1-2 more years? I call bullshit there. I hope he comes out and squashes this shit sooner than later regardless of what he decides.

I could never take a year off, I love this game to much. Been a Rams fan for over 50 years and have been through some crappy years. I could see trading some veterans for picks and going through a rebuild.

Yeah, I get that. Been a fan for 45+ years myself, I just have other priorities these days. Having said that, I doubt I could actually bring myself to ignore it completely, haha. I am a glutton for punishment, as evidenced by my lifelong Rams Fandom. At least they won 2 rings (so far) in our lifetime!

The entire situation really sucks. As a fan I’m angry at Sean for leaving us in this position. But as a human being I’m happy he has the chance to take some time away to care for his personal stuff.

But being “burnt out” at 37 years old is kind of a bitch move if I’m being honest.

I think he’ll be gone for several years taking the best TV Gig & will start a family. Just hoping Morris is not the choice to replace him.

Going from
Run it Back! Run it Back!
to
Run Away! Run Away!
in less than a year?
That'd be some Bobby Petrino level shittery there if it happens.

My exact thoughts. Morris is not a good candidate but I don’t know who is. Not interested in Payton. He’s a sore loser and a choker in big moments.

Someone get Shanahan to text Sean "How am I going to get all these free wins if you leave?"

that might do the trick.

I disagree Payton with Fangio as DC has a .631 winning percentage plus a 9-8 post season record. Rams could do worse.

Are these the same people who said AD was retiring last year? Or that McVay was going to Amazon last year?

Honestly, who can fault the guy? Young and in his prime. Tons of money. Cabo, Hawaii, Tahiti, Bora-Bora......who wouldn't love to relax all over the world. Cocktails, good food. A happy wife, who happens to be gorgeous. A dream existence. Eventually his connection to NFL football would fade off into the sunset with him.
McVay still has a $14m house to pay for. He needs to put in a couple more years at something that pays before he heads off to Bora Bora.

Much as I have hated Payton for his whining after the NFC championship game, if McVay walks he would likely be the best choice to supercharge the Rams' O. Especially if Stafford returns. And Fangio is either the best DC available or close enough that it doesn't matter.

Oof. McVay in today’s postgame presser…that sounded like a guy with one foot out the door.

Not that he cares in the least but if McVay does in deed leave because he doesn't want to "rebuild" then I'd lose a lot of respect for him. He did win us a Lombardi and so has great status with us Rams fans. But the roster is the way it is in large part due to his input on building it and winning that trophy. Stick with it and show us what you have Sean.
