I cannot reiterate this enough....he has more leverage than any QB, ever. Younger QBs have more trade value and typically are extended prior to getting to this point, meaning the team has a year or two with control without that player thinking they could just retire.

I will truly be shocked if his pay is anything less than 50 and I think 55 is more likely
Not saying he isn't worth it but that's where how much are the Rams willing to pay and how it's structured comes into play since we have young players that will need to be paid sooner than later as well. Think that's why McVay was talking about knowing sooner or later and Snead was talking about having conversations. Those conversations are going to be interesting since the deal will probably be a delicate, yet complicated one and as a result take time to hammer out. Still think Stafford will ultimately be back with us as long as his demands don't get out of whack.

I'm curious. What is Matthew Stafford's trade value?

Let's say that both parties can't come to terms on a deal before free agency starts, McVay believes that the team could win with Garappolo, and the organization decides to move on from him..

What could they get for Stafford?

I'd hope a 1st and a 2nd would be involved at worst but I honestly doubt it. We always get fleeced on trade value so that part scares the shit out of me.

There are so many teams that wouldn't be interested....but I think you'd have a team like the Titans who MIGHT pull the trigger...just to get a year or two of competent QB play and see if that helps the organization.

I think they would trade something like their second for Stafford and our 4th - if they even wanted to do that, which they very well may not.

Then possibly the Steelers...for that I could see swapping first and then is getting another pick

For a QB that wants a big contract and may only play for one season? If you were GM of a team needing a QB would you give up that much?

We have a strong 2-3 year window. Stafford is still an elite level playing QB despite his age.

There is absolutely no way the Rams trade him or even sniff being a better doing so.

He's a Ram until he retires.

Just offseason talk. Not probable. But I wouldn't say it's not possible not knowing his contract demands.

I think the Rodgers trade would be the blueprint with his age

Jets receive:

  • QB Aaron Rodgers
  • 2023 first-round pick (No. 15 overall)
  • 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170 overall)

Packers receive:

  • 2023 first-round pick (No. 13)
  • 2023 second-round pick (No. 42)
  • 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207)
  • 2024 conditional second-round pick (becomes a first if Rodgers plays 65 percent of snaps)

No I wouldn't, I just wanna fleece someone for once lmao... guess you failed to see I highly doubt getting a 1st and 2nd. I know it isn't happening, just being more wishful than anything else

If I'm the Steelers, I throw a 1st rounder at the drop of a hat
Eff them picks got the Rams a SB, why not the Steelers?
That said, if Stafford wants 50 mill guaranteed for 2025, I cant imagine a world the Rams dont do that in a second

His demands could be a little "out of whack," and still be doable. I mean, are the Rams going to give up on a deep run next year over 5-10 million dollars?

I think Stafford would retire before agreeing to a trade, thus the Rams have zero leverage.

True, but by being out of too out of whack, I'm more so talking about a figure that the Rams aren't willing to pay. I personally don't think it will get there but Stafford wouldn't be the first or last player to not be signed because he wants too much money. Unfortunately no one knows what that is except the Rams front office. Trust me, I'm in the camp of pay the man. The decision isn't any of ours however.

McVay is smarter than that
