For those "not so sure," here's the drive in question that may have cost us winning the Super Bowl.

No one is disputing that McVay is a top tier coach.

However - in all honesty - he has real clock/game management issues that crop up in many games, even wins.

In that championship game, in addition to the pre-halftime clock management problem, at the end of the game McVay also gambled on 4th down instead of taking a chip shot field goal that would have made it a one score game with less than 6 minutes left in the game.

Then he allowed too much time to run off the clock before calling time outs on defence, and so there was no time left to come back when we got the ball back.

McVay repeatedly gambled unnecessarily on 4th down instead of taking the field goal throughout the year, and ended up later regretting not taking the points.

Game management is a real problem for McVay and it has been for quite some time.
This trend to go for it on 4th down so much is costly. It’s the playoffs. Take the points! The Rams are not the only team to have made this mistake in postseason. Some teams don’t want to punt and go for it, giving up a short field.

I’m not talking about 4th and inches, either.

Ultimately though, the defense couldn’t make a stop without a Seattle mistake/penalty. They were quite lousy down the stretch. I kept saying the Rams would have to score over 30 to win. They didnt.

Of course. Can't be FACTUALLY countered, reply with laughter. Seen it a million times.....LOL
IKR.
Back in the nineties, I listened to a morning drive sports talk radio show.
One day, they had a topic of conspiracies in sports.
I called and pointed out that the NBA adopted the three point shot coinciding with Larry Bird's rookie year with the Boston
Celtics. I made mention of the fact that Red Auerbach, during the mid seventies, was quoted in Basketball Digest monthly
magazine as stating the NBA 'didn't need the gimmick' three point shot then in vogue in the American Baskketball Association
and that Red, owing to acquring Bird's services, obviously had a change of heart and suddenly his influential self was on board with it.
The ASSHOLE host told me to put down the crackpipe.
He couldn't refute a single point I had made so, as is so often the case with the Boston ass-kissing media, he deflected.
In this case by insulting the bearer of bad TRUTH.

I'm of the opinion and belief that the 3-point shot has now made Basketball unwatchable. Not in the first 20 years since its inception when it wasn't abused like it is now.

Worst thing that ever happened to Basketball. Put on Lakers-Celtics Finals 84,85,87. Basketball's peak and the 3-pointer was ignored.

Everybody and his brother jacks them up now. Back in the day, the true marksmen utilized it strategically and it was a fun element of the game.
But, yeah, in the last twenty years or so, it has jumped the shark, so to speak.

If they don't want to eliminate it entirely, leave the arc on the court and make it only allowed to be used as 3 points in the last 2 minutes of each Half. Basketball fundamentals have gone to shit because of it. Half- court basketball was a thing of beauty, as was the mid-range 2-point shot.

The Magic Johnson and Larry Bird-led fast breaks is Basketball at its finest. And I don't care what any young douche says to me about this, just like I don't care how any young douche feels about our current uniforms being better. Being old is wisdom.

Bobby Jones with a flying finish off a bounce pass from Maurice Cheeks. OH YES!!
After Mo made one of his patented steals of a pass intended for an opponent in the low post.
Just like that the SIXERS were off and running.

The Magic-Worthy fast break. Now, they pull up at the arc with NO ONE in front of them and take a 3. GTFOH.
Wasn't that Lakers break mentioned in DIE HARD when a couple of the perps were entering the tower in Nakatomi Plaza?

Yup, the 3 point shot killed the NBA for me, unwatchable. Bring the line back to where it originally was at least.
I am a fan of the low post game and its all but gone in the NBA. And this isolation bullshit, 8 guys standing and watching 2 guys go at it.
Pass the ball, the guy with the best chance should get the ball.

The drive before the end of the half cost us the game for sure. We could have gone into the half up by two scores. Instead we all know what happened. And then, the punt fumble and that was all she wrote.

That said, for all the blame to go around, we can`t deny that sometimes players make plays. And on that day, Emmanwari beat us.
True but if we ran the ball those downs and still barely lost there would be people on here complaining saying he should have been more aggressive at the end of the first half. I can hear it now you have the MVP QB and 2 top 10 WR's and you decide to go conservative in the NFC Championship game
