So the Rams kept it quiet because some owners getting word that Sean McVay felt Ty Simpson had the ability plus a superior football IQ to be an upper echelon signal caller, he would have been gone before 13. You know it, I know it and the American People know it.
It's true, it's damn true!

Of COURSE. Is there any other way to see it....???

One of the bloggers floated that Simpson would be packaged down the road with other assets for Burrough when he demands out of Cincy. Interesting theory particularly if Simpson shows anything when he gets a chance to play.

That’s a great question. If Simpson shows some skills with more room for improvement, I don’t think we’re sending over 2 1sts.

Specifically, Ty is still on a rookie contract. ACL and MCl tears and an expensive contract for Burr. No guarantee a Super Bowl chip comes with Burrow.

To me, this is yet another reason to like the Simpson pick.

Even if he "busts" insofar as he only becomes an average starter, the NFL is so desperate for QB's that he would develop into having significant trade value.

I think odds are excellent that Simpson becomes the Rams QB of the future. But even in a bad-case scenario, chances are still good that we could recoup some picks or a vet QB.

If they acknowledged they had met with him it didn't mean they thought he had "superior football IQ to be an upper echelon signal caller". It would just mean they met with him. All this talk about McVay playing chess vs the checkers the rest of the league is playing is overblown. The Rams got paranoid and didn't want STAFFORD to know. This wasn't about the other teams. No one was going to trade up to 12 or under to take Simpson. No way. We all know it'll take 2-3 years until we know if this was a wise move or not. So let's put the brakes on the Svengali thing for McVay.

Completely disagree. The rest of the NFL slobbers over McVay's nuts. Anyone who ever worked with McVay is guaranteed to get an interview for HC or OC or DC. Have you noticed how our coaching staff gets decimated every freaking year?

If anyone knew the Rams were high on Simpson, I guarantee that would have raised his stock big-time. Yes, absolutely, the Jets or Cardinals could have taken the consensus #2 QB somewhere in the top 12.

Rams were smart to keep their interest in Simpson a secret.

Yeah we'll have to wait a couple years to find out if McVay was right. But McVay is Midas, he's got the golden touch. Remember 2016-2017, when Rams went from last in the league in offense to first overall? I mean, who the hell does that?

To be fair, at least Lafleur and the Cardinals knew exactly what McVay thought of Simpson

The Rams didn't want Stafford to know? They reportedly told him before the draft even started so how does that make sense?
