I like Krispy Kreme but they are far from the best. We have a donut shop near by that does it right - fry and flip then glaze while hot. Fried, fluffy, crispy, sticky goodness right there. And I can eat their donut holes by the dozen.

I prefer KK over the cakey "trendy" type donuts. I won't stop in for some original glazed unless the light is on though. No point otherwise! Oh, and it has to be one of the shops that actually makes them and distributes.
 
KK are the most over rated in the country. Many local shops are better.
Funny story, I was in Vegas, south strip. I went into the casino that had a KK, was hungry and on vacation so I decided to indulge. They(think it was Excaliber ) had a KK sign so I went upstairs late at nite. And there was this LOUD thump thump music blaring though the walls. I am just looking at a million different doughnuts. Only guy there it was so late.
Then the doors blasted open, it was a side door to Thunder from Down Under, you know, the all male "review". Show just ended. I about got trampled by these middle aged hot to trot women. They were looking at me like I was noting but fresh meat. Quite the ego booster I must say. I was about 38 at the time.
I just hurried up back to the casino looking for my wife. If you were single that night and wanted some "company" let me tell you, easy........

Growing up there was a place there was a little dumpy place that people would drive to from miles around. They were well known all over. One day in HS a bunch of us got really high and hit them for a snack.

I ate so many of them so fast that I threw up!!!

LOL I wasted awesome donuts.

Remember that restaurant Grandy's? I used to love their bread rolls. I ate so many one time that it made me throw up and while hugging the toilet all I could think about while they came back out was, these rolls were even good on the way back out
