I believe that history will show us that 49ers overreacted to Rams trading for Stafford. Badly.
I get that they were worried and with good reason. But then they compounded their problem by giving away so much for an inexperienced too young QB.
Now they’re stuck and in a division with the ascending SB Champion Rams And are likely gonna be facing Stafford for the next 5 years. Kind of a reversal of their old advantage when they had Montana and we had mediocre QB’s.
I think Lynch is overrated as a GM. Snead is light years ahead of him in drafting and long term planning and don’t get me started with the trading superiority.
Just a thought on your (imho) well laid out post.
My thoughts are that after the overreaction trade happened,
they had wayyy too long to think and over- analyze which QB they where going to take at that spot.
IMO all the 9er's needed was a smart efficient accurate QB to go with their amazing running
game and defense and they put their self in place to compete for a SB for years to come.
I just wondered if they talked themselves out of Mac Jones and went with the shiny toy?
If so, it just makes this sweeter and sweeter.
If they missed on the lance pick, that would put Lynch's record of drafting very very high pick draft busts at?????????????
let's just call it a bunch.
Warner had Lance rated last of the reported QB's in that draft.
because Lance is wildly streaky. throwing dimes one minute and throwing WTF passes the next.
Does that analogy sound anything like a SB winning QB?
